Forums - Microsoft - I just played Halo Wars for 2 hours...

Hey guys,

Today, I received my copy of Halo Wars. I played the demo before and it was endless fun, so I pre-ordered it right after playing the demo. I just played the campaign so far. The first two levels are the ones being in the demo. There were some people saying this game might be a little too easy (I was one of them :D) But I can tell you, this will change pretty fast. The first 3 levels are just a walkthrough but I failed the first time on level 4 (difficulty: normal).

I tried again and succeed, but it was close again. So I don't expect the follwing levels to be easy.

The game looks great by the way. The CGI-stuff is untouchable. Let's hope those graphics will be possible next generation.^^ But the gameplay looks great as well. It is not as impressive as a FPS, but it definately looks great for a RTS.

The story so far is nice. The great CGI-sequences + the great story really keep you interested. Halo has a great story if you follow it closely and this game is a great part of it.

But the best thing is: The controlls are damn easy. After playing 2 hours, everything I did on the battlefield felt natural. In level4 there are three things to protect, so there is a lot of multitasking. My gameplay never suffered due to controlls. It feels like you would have played this game for days. It is a very easy way to play.

I haven't tried the online part yet, but I will as soon as I finished the campaign. I really really hope this will be the start for a great new series with lots of sequels. I hope this game will be balanced.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Good to hear. If anybody could make a good RTS control scheme for a console, I knew it was Ensemble (God rest their souls!).

From what I played of the demo, it seemed quite nice.

Damn I'm jealous. I get mine tommorrow. Cant wait to play through the story. I'm going to the launch tonight maybe? I think I might. :)

Damn the UK.

Oh, yeah... I was kinda confused for a second, but I forgot that it comes out in EU and even Japan before NA.

Hurrah! I knew the controls were the best thing about this game! Hopefully this will be the console RTS revolution and we'll see many more console RTS's that use this control scheme. I would absolutely love to see what's possible in the near future. Console RTS has a bright future starting today!

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

I successful RTS game on a console would be a good thing

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

When I played the demo I found the controls to be very welcoming for a console RTS.

I am glad to see the positive user responses for this game. Sounds like Ensemble did a great job.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

What are the controls like? Id get a sexbox for this if the controls and multiplyer are good.

Nice...I've pre-ordered mine, and here's to me hoping I can get it soon!
