Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Hates Lesbians

This makes me feel bad for poor Mr. Richard Gaywood.

Can't even use his own name because of so many insecure individuals.

Straight from the Microsoft Xbox Live Terms of Service:
You agree that we may also discontinue your access to the Service if you do any of the following while connected to the Service:

Create a Gamertag , avatar or use text in other profile fields that may offend other members. This includes comments that look, sound like, stand for, hint at, abbreviate, or insinuate or relate to any of the following: profane words/phrases, topics or content of a sexual nature, hate speech (including but not limited to racial, ethnic, or religious slurs), illegal drugs/controlled substances, or illegal activities;

So yes, this woman should not have posted her sexuality on her profile, as it is a sexual topic and against the terms stated in the contract. Just like people who use the words gay, homo, or any other profane word, you are subject to banning because of the violation of their code of conduct.

This is not some "unjust" action done by MS to alienate the gay/lesbian community, just a simple rule because there are plenty of people who are offended by it. Just as you people are hating on those who are "homophobic" you are being the biggest hypocrite ever. There is no law that says we have to accept all sexual orientations. It is our free will to judge as we see fit. That does not mean that we will discriminate and hate on them, that just means we don't have to agree with it. Microsoft did not discriminate against this individual... it was a simple violation of their Terms of Use.

Who are you to say that lesbian is an offencive term? as long as she dosent describe the action i dont see what ur problem with it is

I am an American who has every right to see offense in the term.  Who are you to deny me this right?  Call me a bigot, but if the world was ready to accept gay/lesbians in their entirety, why all the laws against gay marriage?  Why is the major religions of the world against it?  Obviously to anyone of those religions it is offensive.  Should Microsoft say that you cannot be a Christian on the service and force you to accept all sexual orientations?

Oh and YES sexuality is a sexual topic....  I'm not assuming anything about anyone being a pervert.  I'm pretty sure everyone with half a brain can make that connection.

Microsoft does not allow those names, which is why users have the ability to report them and force them to be changed.

NO one is forsing you to do anything.... you see that on someones PROFILE PAGE  <<<<<<<<<, THERE PROFILE PAGE..... let me say it again   (THERE PROFILE PAGE)   on which they used a word that can be found in a dictionary and you are offended by it? wow bravo sir!

I agree with them. This has nothing to do with sexual preference but appr. gamertag and profile material. "Be mature people" is just want MSFT wants.

Well, yes, but ...

... first, being American doesn't really have anything to do with it ...

And of course you have a right to see offense in anything. It isn't so much a right as a response, kindled by your upbringing, but I'll grant you that part.

Where your 'right' ends though, American or not, is where it interferes with other people's rights. Especially the rights to roam the earth and perhaps even Xbox Live without fear.

Hey, for all you know the lady in question may be American too. Means she has rights, don't it?

clearly they aren't too concerned with appropriateness. You can go into any game and call somebody a gay ass nigger without repercussion, but identify yourself as a minority that is offensive to conservative christians? GTFO!

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

People have the right to be offended by anything, what they don't have the right to do is oppress people because they offend them. I think Rush Limbaugh is a bigot drug addict moron, and the majority of the things he spews I find very offensive. but I'm not going to attempt to get his show canceled because of it. I have the right to be offended, and he has the right to be a jack ass. That's america. What you describe is the Taliban, get rid of those that the dominant religious group find offensive.

This is true.  Ah, what the heck.  I don't agree with it as I am one of the cc's but if some might find it wrong it does not belong on MSFT's service.  People seem to forget that your content, text, images, etc, are hosted by Redmond and what Redmond want's, Redmond gets $50 a yr or not.  Besides, Richard Gaywood was his real name and real names are not permitted by the XBL EULA.

Edit: From the XBL TOU:

You may not....

That was thrown out the window the moment they bundled headsets with the console.

If that's your argument, I can say that I'm offended by your gamer tag name because I'm scared of the dark, and I have every right to be offended by it, and you are nobody to deny me the right. That doesn't mean my argument is any good. Why would it make yours?

The fact is that some people are lesbian, some are gay, some are bi, some are straight. Deal with it. You (I don't mean precisely you, but anyone) can be all the bigot you want, that doesn't mean that being lesbian is offensive, because it's not. It's a choice as normal as people being straight. And luckily in this world, less and less people are being intolerant to that matter, the day everyone sees it as normal will be a very good day for this world
