A very large percentage play these features. Largely because they are what cause additional people to buy the games. You play with a friend at his house, and it causes you to buy it. Why do you think Halo 3 is stil selling 16 months after launch? People are still exposing their friends, who in turn buy the game. Even if you're perfectly happy buying the game without split screen, it severely reduces the chances your friends will.

You think Halo 3 is still selling because it has split screen? I am going to say that is a bit of a stretch. I play coop and mp with my friends all of the time online. We would never get together to play split screen. Maybe it is differnet for the Wii, but it just isn't that important on the 360/ps3.

I'm not saying it's the same as it was for Halo 1/2, but to some extent, yes.
For example. I own all 3 Halos. I stopped playing Halo 3 a while back. Sometimes I go over a friends house, and occasionally, because he has a nice big TV, we wind up playing a few Halo matches. When i go home, I'm in the Halo mood again, and for the next week or so I play matches. And then, if a new mappack has come out I end up buying it. If there hadn't been split screen, I probably would have put Halo 3 down a couple map packs ago, and never went back. I imagine it can have a similar effect on those who don't own it yet. Especially considering there are almost 10m copies floating around, there are literally hundreds of thousands of split screen games played each week.
