I'm sorry, but better advertising does not for a moment equal more hype.

Halo 3 was a blip on the internet radar compared to the hype titan that has been Killzone 2.

Believe whatever makes you feel happy, it makes little difference to me. However, I will add that advertising's primary purpose is to build hype for the product in question, so better advertising would in turn build more hype.

And if you believe Killone 2 is a blip to Halo 3, then you either have selective memory, or you avoided the internet at the time.

That said, I'm sure there is a funky picture that explains this far better. Dallinor?

Do you honestly believe that Halo 3 received a substantial amount more hype than Killzone 2?

Ahh back when I only owned a 360.... Halo 3 was like the 2nd coming of Jesus for me. :D

@starcraft: Of course Halo 3 was way more hyped than Killzone 2. It's just that the KZ2 hype is so fresh that it seems bigger now.

The single most hyped game of this generation arrives, and the first person to get their hands on it takes the time to photograph themselves holding their copy and posting said photograph to tease Americans.

Sigh.

Dallinor just killed the thread.  It will be impossible to continue this discussion due to extensive laughing.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Really, I don't think it is. I've yet to see a BBC news article about it, for example. Killone just hasn't hit the level of public consciousness of games such as Halo 3 or Wii Fit; both of these have or had such a hype train in the UK that even the major news channels went to cover it, as well as several non-game related TV programs. Killzone 3, by comparison, is just another game release.

As for the lucky guy with Killzone 2: I hate you.

You do realise BBC is not allowed to advertise right? Well anything other then advertising themself that is ;)

The KillZone 2 ads have been in full force for sometime now in UK. ITV obviously had about 50 of them during the football last night due to being sponsored by Sony. They seem to be on Sky 1 and MTV a fair bit too. I actually quite like the ads but they are on a tad too much really. But Sony spent £2million on advertising the game here in the UK

http://www.fragland.net/news/2-million-for-Killzone-2-advertising-in-UK/20202/

So it was to be expected. In terms of advertising at least Killzone 2 is everywhere. Far more so then what Halo 3 and GTA4 had. If the amount of hype being generated will have an effect will remain to be seen. I got my copy hopefully arriving tomorrow (if game stick to sending games a day early that is ;)  ).

GRAHAHAHA AT THE WORLD!!!!!!!

Saves me having to come up with my own reply to starcraft, as TruckOSaurus hits the nail on the head.

And yet it is simply not true.  Anyone trying to argue that the internet hype for Halo 3 is some quantum leap ahead of the internet hype for Killzone 2 is simply incorrect.

Personally, I think it's because the PS3 has so much more riding on Killzone 2 than the Xbox 360 had riding on Halo 3.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

My local 7-11 advertised Halo 3 like crazy! Yet nothing yet on Killzone 2.

7-11 Midnight launch BABY!!!

You couldn't go anywhere without seeing or hearing about the damn game!

As for GTAIV, the game got coverage in my Newsday paper. That is a BIG DEAL here in Long Island, New York. Killzone 2? Yet to see anything.

Keep it coming guys. Keep believing Killzone 2 has more hype, LMFAO!!!

Are you serious Starcraft?

You keep going with this "KZ2 had more internet hype!"

Halo 3 had more hype in and outside of the internet. Internet =/= World. World = World, and that is where Halo 3 out-hyped Killzone 2 by a long shot.

You lose. Admit it. Be humble for a change.
