It all can be explained by the lack of trees in KZ2.

Wait that was another thread... /runs away

Yup. A planet that can barely sustain human life, has intense amounts of radiation and environmental pollution to the point where the average lifespan is around 40 years due to death from lungs being destroyed from radiation burn (Even though they use masks) should be filled with beautiful green trees. -.-

I know in Equador for example there is areas that have higher radiation levels than others and trees refuse to even grow. Google " Red Forest", it talks about how trees closer to the radiation died off because the levels were too high. Helghan is also full of environmental pollution, another thing that kills plant life such as trees.

No idea what "nicer" looking areas of Helghan look like though. In order to breathe the trees have to be somewhere, just not where they are, lol.

I was actually laughing at the lack of trees argument that some use to explain why KZ2 looks better.  All games use their tricks, GeOW too, and overall KZ2 is superior.

I'm glad for the developers of the Gears of War series that the planet Sera looks more livable ...

Doesn't matter. It is still a weak argument that has been brought up many times.

Helghasts aren't on Helghan because they want to be, they were pretty much cast onto this almost lifeless planet.

Some people just like to hate when they have no damn clue what they are hating on.

By the way, I checked some Youtube vids even though I promised I wouldn't. One shows what it most likely a level set in a forest region. So now people can enjoy their damn trees.

How many trees you see in the new Terminator movie coming out this year? Not many I believe, most likely due to radiation from the war.

Killzone 2 has trees, they just look more like the trees in a post apocalyptic world like that in Fallout 3. Bare, having no leaves. yet nobody hates on it there.

Regarding the game engines, I know it took awhile for KZ2 to be made, and it shows, its a beautiful game, and I'm sure i'll love it when I get it Thursday night. Gears of War 2 on the other hand was made in only 2 years, mainly cause the game engine was already made, and is also a beautiful game and alot of fun to play, I am enjoying it at least. But now since the game engine is made, for KZ2 that is, and we dont see KZ3 before 2011 holiday season. I will call failure on GG part. The engine is made, now just make minor tweaks and pump a great game out every 2 years like Gears of War is.

So a game is only as good as its graphics now then? Having played the demo of kz2 I am pretty sure I will have less fun playing through KZ2 than I did with Gears 2. But thats ok.... i will still have fun... juts not as much.

When did anyone start talking about gameplay advantages/disadvantages? And you can't really make an assumption of an 8-10 hour game based on the demo which is about 10-15 mins long I think.

that video had some great laughs.

  1. Let's compare rendered graphics oO Isn't that stupid? And if you want to compare rendered graphicsd, there is nothing better than the rendered sequences in Fable2. Maybe Halo Wars can jump in. The CGI stuff was awesome.
  2. I got this from the youtube-comments: "Killzone2 has a dynamic recoil system, each shot effects the magnum's bullet trajectory" OMG, RECOIL IN A SHOOTER. Now I have seen it all.
  3. Did he notice that one game is a 3rd person shooter and the other one a FPS?

Both games look great, why can't we just agree? Makes me sad.

lack of language. i mean those sequences where they crashed.

*edit* I just don't think it is smart to compare parts of the game were you are just watching. I prefer the CGI stuff in Halo Wars or Fable2 for those parts. It is not ingame, I know, but it looks great though. the sequences in Fable2 helped a lot to create a great atmosphere. I hope you know what I mean now :D
