Forums - Sales - Halo Wars

So let me get this strait, all of the Halo Wars sells will be due to ignorant customers? Even though the commercial states that it is a RTS game.

The game will sell like gang busters and not because people think it is a FPS, but because it is in the Halo universe.

Wow.. where do I start...

ok..

where did anyone say that EVERY copy sold would be due to misinformed people?

I merely suggested that there would be people that wouldn't research a game or download a demo.......

once again.. the point of this topic was about the commercial NOT stating that it as an RTS......

obviously you can assume someone will be in say.. walmart and see it in the case one day and buy it due to the halo name..

saying that having the name "halo" or showing commercials that lead people to believe its a sequel to halo 3 won't have an effect on sales at all is just ignorant..

how many RTS have sold well on anything other than a PC?

Predictions.

1. Wii will never reach 50% market share.

2. Kz2 will sell 1.3 first week 3.5 LT.
Sales predictions for 09.

Wii - 69 - 72
PS3 - 32 - 34
X360 - 39 - 41

It sounds as if you are saying that you believe Microsoft are deliberatly trying to misrepresent the game as a sequel to Halo 3, in the hopes of fooling consumers into purchasing a game that they would otherwise not be interested in, in an effort to artificially inflate the units sold of an RTS on a console...

Does that about cover it?

Well......with the price of console games these days, you would be hard pressed to find an individual not familiar with the game play or game type prior to purchase.

Unless your a parent purchasing Wii games at random, or picking up the title for someone else as a gift, most kids/adults know what they are "intending" to buy. Especially for $60.00....:)

First and foremost your post was designed to insinuate exactly what I was getting at, that the majority of sales will be because consumers are idiots.

I have seen the commercial atleast 5 times and if you watch it again, it will say at the end it is an RTS game.  While I don't like any game not to show actual gameplay footage, Halo Wars is by far not the only one that doesn't do it.  Damnd near all commercials done now have little to no gameplay footage.   Look at Kilzone 2 as an example.

How many FPS games sold well last gen on a console?  Until Halo and 007 came out it was a dead genre on consoles.  Whose to say Halo won't do it again for RTS?

Here in Germany i saw a few commercials on MTV.They were nice but without gameplay. But it was mentioned that the game is a rts.
Although Halo Wars sponsers Star Treck (or something like that) here in germany.

Damn I should better start watching MTV again....

Aside from kids who order it for their birthday to their aunt... I can't seriously believe that people considering it as the new Halo FPS will have a considerable impact on sales (...).

You really have to be a blind idiot not to see it (Hellowww !!! Flip the box please...).

Halo Wars is a real challenge because it is the very first console rts (not rts for console like a port of C&C) .

Its inovative controls is a real bet on how the RTS genre can be made accessible to non-rts player.... and as a RTS player, I played the demo for like 5 hours and it is a deal for me ( I can't see C&C on my 360 anymore... brrr..).

The only think I'm worried about (and I'm almost already sure about it) is that it may miss the hardcore-rts audience due to its controls simplification and its orientation on balanced actions.

... it might also be a bit short on the campaign side (opportunity for paid DLC of course... hinhin...) and too focused on multiplayer...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Pretty much.

So a huge successful corporation hires a prolific RTS developer to create a new game based upon it's most important IP, only to subsequently hide said game behind false and deceptive advertising in order to make a quick buck at the expense of it's fans.

Damn Microsoft!!  I always KNEW they were the devil!

What channels? I have yet to see one.

And if they were really just mindless Halo fans, they would have known the demo was out. It was quite well displayed on the NXE.

Game will sale 1,000,000 first week.
