Forums - Nintendo - The Official Metroid Prime 3 Reviews Thread

I think people don't get it, Gamespot flops Wii games because they know it'll generate traffic, go to the system wars forum after a big nintendo game scores below 9.0, you get massive activity, this increased traffic leads to more advertising money which generates revenue.

Its the same reason Joystiq has "news" articles which are flamebait, to generate hits and traffic.

I think you guys are reading into this too much. 8.5 to 9.5 is still great. The reviews haven't changed my decision to buy the game. Reviewers are people just like us and they have certain tastes. You might not be bothered by the same thing. It comes down to whether you think you will enjoy the experience. So when a game gets above an 8, it gets my attention and from what they've said about the game, it's worth a buy. If you don't think you'll like it from what you've read, just don't buy it. Or maybe give it a rent. Enjoy the games you like, not what someone else likes.

8.5 isn't a bad score at all. I really don't get why everyone's going so stupid over it. You can't expect every game to be AAA. You have to remember that Metriod isn't for everyone. I'm not into Metroid neither; I really didn't like it very much for the Gamecube. As of right now, the game is at 93% at Gamerakings. Is this not good enough? Seriously, you can't expect it too get AAA at every single site...

I can say I think MP3 is phenominal, my local Wal-Mart put it on sale early. *u*

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

i think people are just upset cause the main review says one thing but then the reasons for deducting points contradict it.

People here are talking about leaving room for movement for other games like galaxy to get a higher score. I am cool with that.

Why don't they just write this: it's the wii's best effort out so far, however we do believe more can be achieved from wii, as it has be seen in game demos that we have played in future games like mario galaxy.

not stupid things like:
- some doors open to slow
- it is a sequel (hell if this was a valid reason for giving a lower score imagine what FFXIII would be rated. Like 6 or something lol).

Exactly what im thinking

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Well I don't have a problem with the scores themselves. I just believe that if you are going to score a big game like that you really need to explain yourself clearly. Neither Gamespot (who contradicts themselves every other sentence) nor Game Pro (who just seems to not understand what's going on lol) do that very well at all. I want to know WHY you think the game deserves an 8.5, and the fact that it's a sequel does not cut it as a reason, especially considering gamespot has a history of rating sequels higher than earlier games (even when nothing changes).

I do agree that the "sequel" reason for deducting points is pretty weak sauce. If they changes they made didn't agree with the reviewer, then fair game but not just because it was a sequel. And I agree with the FF comment. Though most FF games don't totally resemble the last.

I really want to see how GameSpot and such review Galaxy and Brawl :|

Chrono Cross, Zelda OOT and Tony Hawk 3 are 3 of the 4 games ever to achieve a perfect score on GS. And guess what? They are all sequels (CC not so much).
