Tactics or 5, I'm a sucker for the Job System

This! I might want a different item system though. I can't remember if you got one or two accessories with FFV, and I like accessories.

Tactics.

If Tactics doesn't count 5.

i loved the meteria system in 7

the job system in FFV is perfection, its easy but also it takes a lot of work to develop, the juction system comes second only for the fact that it makes the game the easiest FF of the bunch

Junction System - FFviii

Final Fantasy IX

Each piece of equipment had one or more abilities that you could learn and keep for your character after a certain amount of experience in battle had been attained.

Also, the chocobo side game where you had to explore the world and find treasures while riding on them was the best one yet in a FF game.

This game truly has a special place in my heart. Loved it to bits. And Vivi is a sweet little thing. xD

Edit:

FF IV remake - Fun and cute, but ultimately obsolete. The dialogue is unsophisticated. I know, I know, it's an old game made prettier, but still, I need juice!

FF VI remake wanted.

FF VII - Well, it doesn't feel as special to me as to so many people, but the materia system was kind of fun.

FF VIII - Great story, characters, soundtrack, summons... Horrible battle system. Absorbing spells from mobs so you can use them yourself? Go die in a fire Squaresoft!

FF X - Turn based battles done well. Spira was a beautiful world to explore.

FF XII - Finished this one this week, even though I've had it since european release. Incredibly boring battle system, I must've felt a masochist to clock in 119 hours of gameplaying.

FF XIII - See you in late 2010, bitch.

Final Fantasy IX. Classic active time battles, ability system, all characters unique (except Garnet and Eiko) and not completely exchangeable like in V or VII for example.

Regarding the original post, FF VII and VIII both use the ATB system while FF X uses a CTB system (conditional turn based).

I wish FF IX's ATB bar loaded faster. Like FF VIII fast.

The ATB bar is at least somewhat acceptable. What's not are the ten second long loading times before and after the battle.

You are both right. It's excruciating to play it nowadays. But the experience and fun I had with it when it came out is very endearing.

Obviously FFIII

and yes it was the only one I played

VII. Materia > Anything

everyone saying V for the job system....

You probably never played X-2 then. All lols aside for the story and girlishness, the game had the most robust system for job classes. And the battles felt as if they were Real Time but still turned based.
