Forums - Sony - What do you guys think of this idea?

@omgwtfbbq: Chicken and Egg. Both developer and manufacturer rely on each other. but if the manufacturer doesn't continue to support and license the software, there's not much a developer can "legally" do.

Well this was pretty expected . Even if they sell only a couple of million PS2s in the next few years , it will be enough to aid them in the PS3 section loses :)

The GameCube and Xbox sold poorly, can you really blame them for wanting to focus on only one console each instead of two?

The PS2 was successful enough to warrant attention even after its successor landed.

BING BING BING - We have a winner!

For the zillionth time, supporting older consoles is in no way a distinctive feature of Sony. The reason the PS1 and PS2 had such long life spans and got games after their successors were out is that they had sold over 100M copies. This is the same reason the Wii is going to have the longest lifespan out of the current consoles, despite what some people seem to think.

It's not just Consoles. Sony supports all it's products for a LONG time even if it isn't selling the greatest
