I would say he is in his 30s. The first game he appeared in was Donkey Kong as Jumpman and that game came out like 1981 I think.

Yup, in his 30's. Above that will be just too old.

I always figured he was in his 20's, young enough that he could have such a peculiar romance. Plus Peach can't be much younger than that, or else it might send the wrong message

 

As for the series: the character premiered in 1981, though he wasn't named Mario until 1983 with Mario Bros., as in Donkey Kong he was simply called Jumpman

 She could be younger and he could be older, nothing wrong with that, and its not like they're having sex or anything, all she does is bake him cakes.

 

Actually that reminds me of a comic where Mario keeps saving Peach and she makes some comments that make him think she's finally going to put out, and instead it turns out that she made him a different flavored cake, then at the end she's wondering why he's never tried to have sex with her.

He is 33 and always remains that age as a character, like the Simpsons do.

... I have no idea D: never even thought about it.

If he is aging then he should be retiring soon.
Also if Peach is a princess... then who the hell is the queen :S
