Forums - Nintendo - New to the wii community...

I just bought a wii.  I bought it mainly for the virtual console ( yes I spent $250 to play 16 bit and 32 bit games). I was bummed out when I found out the bad news about earthbound, I guess I'll just have to pirate the rom   I've bought every mario, donkey kong and zelda up there.

Well I've done some online searching and searched through many of the posts up here to find out the must have games for the wii.  I know I want the new animal crossing, I liked that back on gamecube.

But what about mario and zelda, what are the actual mario and zelda platformers?  There's so many mario this and mario that that it's hard to tell which is most true to the original.

Also, is there a sonic the hedghog released for the wii that has a chaos garden, I just liked raising the chao.  If not then I guess I'll just get the gamecube version.

Super Mario Galaxy is the only true Mario platformer this generation, although Warioland: Shake It is an oldschool 2D platformer which should be right up your alley.

Zelda Twilight Princess is the latest Zelda, and is very similar (gameplay wise) to Ocarina of Time.

Also make sure you check out the following games:

Metroid Prime 3: Corruprion
Mario Kart Wii
Call of Duty: World at War
Okami
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Boom Blox
De Blob
Geometry Wars: Galaxies
No More Heroes

i really do suggest that u pick up metroid prime coruption

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

proud soldier of nintopia

Thanks for the reply, I'm glad you mentioned resident evil 4, I forgot about that.

I played through in on the ps2 version but always envied the wii owners for having what every game magazine labled as the superior version in their reviews.  It's it worth buying and playing through again on the wii?  It does support the gun controller for the wii right ( I think that's what was superior about it).

Also, resident evil umbrella chronicles, any good?

Is the super smach bros brawl pretty much like the one they made for gamecube?

yeh its pretty much the same but with a tonne of extra features and stuff to do. also u need to get on board the Madworld hype train.

If you like oldschool games Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is an excellent choice.

I love the Virtual Console as well. That alone makes the Wii worth owning imo, especially since old consoles don't support the the latest TVs very well.

Yes, you can even play it with a GC controller. The main difference is more content: more characters, more stages, more items, a stupidly large amount of awesome music...

Look here; it has comprehensive information on everything new in Brawl:

Super Mario Galaxy is the true Mario platformer.

Twlight Princess is the true Zelda game (but the same as the GC version except for Wii controls and the whole game world being flipped over left-to-right.)

If you haven't played any of these, these are the classic VC Nintendo titles to get:

Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, Metroid, Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda, LoZ: A Link to the Past, LoZ: Ocarina of Time, F-Zero, Star Fox 64.

Also...how do you get your wii to run in hi def...I know it only goes to 480p, but is there a cord you need, cuz I tried clicking the button to switch it to 480p but it won't let me click it.

Does the classic nintendo controller work with gamecube games
