i think you lack the knowledge of transexuality, a transexual is someone who was male or female but choose to become the other sex, they are now considered to be there new choosen gender, so they ARE male or female, they just used to be the other, do you understand?

So lesbian's can use male restrooms and gays can use girls restrooms, but they forfeit their rights to use restrooms of the gender they used to be. =D
. . . . . . .
But what if you're bi? *GASP*

@Torillian
I for one think it wasn't a fair contest to the girls.
Here's a question.
Do you honestly think he would have won if he really was a girl using his own merits?
Or do you think he got unfair votes just because he's gay? or for publicity?
It's sad to think that some of those girls really wanted to win, and he just joined in as a joke and won.
I personally think it's cruel.

I for one think it wasn't a fair contest to the girls.
Here's a question.
Do you honestly think he would have won if he really was a girl who looked exactly like that using his own merits?
Or do you think he got unfair votes just because he's gay? and for publicity?
It's sad to think that some of those girls really wanted to win, and he just joined in as a joke and won.

i think you misunderstood too, gender has nothing to do with sexuality, men can like men or women or both and vice versa, dosent mean they arent male or female

If he looked like he does as a woman and ran then no he would probably lose.  But Why is it ok for people to be voted for and win because they're pretty, but no ok for him to win because he's gay?  The only meaningful things that HC Queen is supposedly about is personality, and the drag queen can be just as nice as those other girls.

Because the award is for a homecoming queen...they are females, and he is not.

and it was decided that the homecoming queen would be female by the school that was having the event, now the school has decided to allow guys to run.  The existence of previously enforced regulations aren't evidence that those regulations were just and should be continued, it only shows where we were.

Just because a school decided to allow a male to win does not mean this makes sense and should be continued; it only shows where we are. Where we are at makes absolutely no sense. A queen is a female, and he was a male.

queen

a. a male homosexual, esp. one who is flamboyantly campy.
b. drag queen.
5. a playing card bearing a picture of a queen.

4b might be noted as offensive, but it is still a legitimate definition of the word, so if that is your only argument then I think you lose.

Why is the ridicule of an meaningless and sexist event cause such trouble? Pagents do not create or promote culture, they just demoralise the not beautiful and popular, telling us that's its ok to be stupid, as long as you are beautiful. Having a gay person entering such a contest actually devalues not the contest, but the serious gay rights, seeking approval and equity in idiotic places. It's better to think it as a satire than to be arguing in favor of "he has the right to be queen." Gays who are faced with prejudice facepalm collectively when the arguement is "i have the right to be beautiful and stupid". It's a case of P.C. strayed from the right path. Popularity contests have no place in learning, they just alienate, create factions within young people who should be open minded and lead to prejudice, racism and violence.

So you're saying gay men still need to use men's restroom?
But gay guys prefer men, letting them into the guys restroom is basically the same as letting guys use women's restrooms is it not? ^_^

Yes he would probably lose, and one of those girls would have been the lucky winner, yet he won just because he's gay running in a women's contest.

And to answer your question, being pretty is instilled in us as an attribute of being a queen, so it is an attribute people look for when voting. Same way the US voted for it's president through his merits and attributes of what people think makes a president and not vote for him just because of the color of his skin.

And I'm guessing most of his homecoming votes were from the latter of that analogy and not the former.

I would say the girls were "shafted".

And to add insult to injury, he joined in as a joke, while those girls probably joined in because they wanted to win.

Well, it is listed as slang, so whether or not it is legitimate is debatable. Although the school has never had specific gender guidelines for the award, if you couple the word queen with the formal title of the award, Miss Mason, it denotes that the award is meant for a female. That is why some are upset that a male won the award.
