Forums - Nintendo - Dead Rising Wii flops in Japan, no reviews yet. Does Capcom know it's crap?

Who can say... Capcom's Wii strategy seems to largely be to overpromise and underdeliver... then pretend they didn't underdeliver and complain their games haven't sold.

Based on what? They've had two moderate sellers and two hits. I don't see a pattern of what you are claiming.

Eh, Capcom just likes to be blameless. They don't like to complain, per se, they just don't want to be held to blame for any of the poor-selling games/bad games/dick moves they deal with. Blameless in the RE4 PS2 thing, blameless in Zack and Wiki's commercial failure, blameless in Dead Rising: CTYD

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Wasn't Capcom touted as one of the greatest future Wii supporters? What's happening? Maybe they're pissed about the boycots you guys sigged...
Honestly though, is this game really that bad?

In general Capcom's support for the Wii is not bad... They even moved MH3 to being a Wii exclusive. It's just that on this project their effort seems very low. They released a bunch of official trailers lately, some of which are hilariously bad.

I'll go see some trailers, I haven't been keeping myself very updated on games lately, I've had a few to play for once!

Edit; I just saw a couple of trailers, I can honestly say that this is the first time I've a Wii game that appears to have horrible controls, seemed slow and unresponsive and aiming with the razors looked like a chore.

LordOfTheKnight: Wat? I'm only going by what's been said on Vgchartz for two years, I'm simply wondering where this massive support is (pumping out games is one thing, it'd be better if they concentrated on quality titles). So my sentiment only makes me sound like a guy who's wondering what happened to the support that was proclaimed. Can you show it to me? And, please, don't take things so personally, you really think this game looks good?

So you all can somehow know Capcom's motives, based on one remake of a game?

Sorry, you are just looking as ignorant as political pundits.

The 360 version sold better overseas than in Japan. They don't take well to sandbox games there. And Capcom didn't expect it to sell a lot, or else they would have shipped more.

Plus this is a WII GAME. Why do you people ALWAYS FORGET you can't use opening sales?

Now the game could still sell poorly (as Okami unfortunately did), but claiming it dead on the first day?

I don't care if you hate it. That's outright ignorance of a pattern that has shown up again and again.

There is a track record of Wii titles not published by Nintendo having legs in Japan ?

Now that's new information....

Heck the so called legs for most Wii titles ( outside of the 4 Wii big titles) is usually just new Wii buyers purchasing games with their hardware purchase, issue is when you sell 400k Wii a week, even if only 10% of them gets CoD:WaW or Carnival games that's 40k sales for those.

Problem is that with 20k sales a week in Japan, if 10% of the new owners buy a game, that is not even going to make a blip on the sales radar.........

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

I haven't seen many people from Capcom say anything like that except Sven.

For people who supposedly complain they sure seem content with putting games like RE4 and MH3 on Nintendo systems.

RE4 is a port and MH3 probably cost Nintendo a shitload of Saki, karaoke and Yen. Like i said in another thread MH3 is probably going to be the most expensive 3rd party Wii title yet.

Meant the GC version, which was the superior version last gen.

Are you kidding? The PS2 version was much better than the Gamecube version!

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

Its a shame they butchered such a great game, they could have given Wii owners something really special ...

Why is it bad when they sell 30% of what's available on one day?

They surely don't want retailers to sell out during the week so I presume they supply them with a number they consider to be more than necessary.

So 30% of what they supplied on day 1 seems pretty good.
