Well, since the Wii doesn't do HD, could that be why they didn't make a vertical split?

(Even though that is what Wii Sports and a lot of other games use).

I do want to ask how you all know that there isn't an option to chage to vertical?

Either way I am not too bothered, I don't think I will be playing this multiplayer.

Being HD or not has nothing to do with this. It's all about aspect ratios.  If you have a horizontal split on a 16:9 tv, each person would have a 16:4.5 block.  Their portion of the screen would be more than 3x as wide as it is tall.  You don't need to see that much on the sides, and you'd probably want to see more above and below you.

If you splid the screen vertically, you'd have two 8:9 screens, which would be closer to a 4:3 screen, something we're more used to.

But there's probably an option to switch between the two like there is in most games these days.

I hope it does well, but I can't help but feel it'll be the next Okami or No More Heroes.

Does HD make a difference when talking about vertical vs horizontal splits? I'd think that Widescreen would, but how does HD?

What superchunk means is he is now personally buying 250,000 copies of the game because of this announcement. Basically it's guaranteed.
