@ RV
However, what I'm saying is, a bit of the Playstation's exclusives are platform defining regardless of genre. GOW is platform defining in the hack & slash/action genre, Gran Turismo is platform defining in the racing genre, LBP is platform defining in the platformer/2d side scroller genre, Final Fantasy (is - Versus XIII/was - FFXIII) platform defining in the RPG genre, MGS is platform defining in the stealth action genre. See where I'm going here, just like Halo/Gears are platform defining in the Shooter genre and Mario Kart is platform defining in the racing genre as well as Super Mario Bros being platform defining in the platforming genre.
Your statement was that Twisted Metal will help PS3 differentiate itself from the others. All those games I mentioned, regardless of genre, help differentiate their respective consoles which was my original point, hence sales being high for each, and/or system sellers, making them platform defining titles. I hope that clears up any confusion.

You also keep saying "platform defining" at the end of every example when RV never said anything about that. He said, and I quote "I thought they should have came out with this game on the PS3 much sooner since it helps differentiate the PS3 gaming catalog from other consoles."How does Gran Turismo differentiate the PS3 from other consoles when the 360 has Forza Motorsport? It's the exact same kind of game.
You've never played Gran Turismo if you believe it's the same kind of game as Forza. Forza is very 'arcadish' and Gran Turismo is very much sim. In racing games that is a drastic difference. That's like saying Motorstorm or Grid is the same type of game as Gran Turismo. It's not. Much like Third Person Shooters aren't the same as First Person shooters in the Shooter Genre. Sure they are both 'shooters games' but they aren't the same type of game.
Ditto for God of War and Ninja Gaiden/Ninja Blade. God of War isn't even unique on it's own console and has both Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Heavenly Sword as similiar experiences.
God of War really wasn't unique in terms of gameplay. Although God of War is completely unique in the essence that never has a game of it's type told such a compelling and interesting story. But I agree God of War isn't necessarily different than some similar games.
Stealth action isn't even a genre, and MGS is a third person shooter. There are plenty of them across all the consoles. It's gameplay mechanics are rediculously similiar to quite a few games currently on the market. Those are all games located in saturated genres, and that was his point.
Stealth action has become a form of sub genre in recent years and Metal Gear is pretty one of a kind. In terms of gameplay mechanics, story telling, play styles. Sure it's third person, but it's unlike any third person on the market. It also incorporates a first person mechanic in the game.
Twisted Metal along with LBP, may have slight similarities to other games of the past, but they are far too unique in this consle generation and help the console stand out because no one else has anything like it.
I agree Twisted Metal, LBP will help differentiate the PS3's lineup. But MGS4 / Gran Turismo 5 most certainly will do that as well.
