Forums - Gaming - GC *Spore* to be on 2(!!!) consoles. Rumor has it that...

The 3th Will wright game from EA is going to be Spore!... An innovatif game on which you evolve your species and eventually take over the planet... The galaxy... Or whatever lies beyond that. Indeed a good 3th party game to have on your console! But there's only room for 2 of the 3. Now: The rumors and the facts: Fact: EA will only put Spore on 2 consoles. Rumor: GC people say it will most likely be on the 360 as the first console. This is... Because it's easy to port from the computer. Can support 'Live anywhere' (if EA feels like it) and cuzz Spore has a PC version... It already has to support the X360 PC controller. Fact: Maxis likes the Wii-controller. Fact: Will wright and Maxis are innovatif. And so are the Wii and Nintendo. Rumor: People at GC are calling Wii as the 2nd console. Why is that?! Cuzz of the facts numbered up above. And cuzz Insiders have tiped people at GC. In addition to that: PS3 isn't selling all that well and with Wii now the top sold hardware piece of this generation, and with no slowing down! It would seem that they could get some (some = lots of) money of the Wii game. Add to that that the Wii-mote has pointer functionalities so it could replace a mouse to offer fast gameplay and that the game LOOKS really similar in style to games like Boogie or Mysims. It would be a nice fit. (Include online play plz!!! )

I don't think I like this logic very much. What we seem to know is:

1) Spore will be on two consoles.
2) One of these is the Xbox360.

I'm going to point out that 95 percent of the time thus far, when the Xbox360 has a game and that game is ported to another console, that console is the PS3.

spore on 360! good fine star

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

U mean... Cuzz they can be easily ported?!...

Well:

Wii has some things that fit really well with Spore:

pointer functions (good replacement for mouse in the Wii version).

The game doesn't look like it's Graphically mindblowing... It looks like it could run on Pentium 4 so it wouldn't have to be downgraded that much.

Wii has the userbase that PS3 doesn't have. That's why u see the ratio of X360/Wii climbing.

EA/Maxis/Will Wright like the Wii... Low dev costs. So it's easy to earn back your investments.

Spore looks like a Casual and Core game. So again: Wii would be a perfect fit.

And people are calling Wii as the 2nd console at the GC (Insiders too).

So it could be X360/PS3 but i'd put my bets on X360/Wii (Just like the Table tennis game from Rockstar). It seems like a perfect fit!

it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE for anybody to get a console version when the PC version has more stuff AND $10 (at least) cheaper.

everybody has a computer these days... and you don't need a top end PC to play spore.

the Wii is an epidemic.

I agree with this logic.... if the Wii can't support Spores graphics.
Even if it can i may lean this way since I think PSN is better off then Wii's online options.

Wright i believe did say the wiimote would be perfect for the game.  But if there is a 360 or PS3 version i don't see a reason to not port it to the other version.

Nintendo only fans will probably have to settle for the Nintendo DS version.

Either way PC will be the one that makes most of the sales.

I second what Bodhesatva said about if it comes to the 360, it usually comes to the PS3, not the Wii as the other multi-plat. I would have to look at the resource requirements for this game to make a definitive judgment though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Lots of people have computers that aren't good for running games (even slightly older laptops etc), and many are discouraged by having to mess around with often difficult installation and compatibility issues.

I never, ever bother fiddling around with a PC version of a game if I can get a console version I know will work.

I try to avoid PC versions whenever possible. Will get Sam&Max and Runaway2 for Wii, although I have a PC. Gaming is just much more fun on a console, IMO.

OT: I'd like Spore on the Wii. But a PS3 version is more probable, I'm afraid. Don't know why they can't port it to all 3, though.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)

True. I wonder how this runs with 2,4GHz Celeron with motherboard integrated GPU, which is running Ubuntu as OS. Or maybe i just settle with console version. I would be more interested in DS version than Wii version. Also i prefer console versions over PC versions due the compatibility and functional issues and better controls.
