i never know y activision does so well they make like 4 good games a year

These "professionals" they picked must include some doucheongames type people if some of them are voting "don't know"

In fact considering the software list sees to be focussing on profits... I would assume the hardware should too... which means 45.6% of these "professionals" are total idiots to assume anyone but Nintendo is going to make the most hardware profit in 2009.

I'm not surprised.

Wait, Activision Blizzard tops Nintendo by that much for 2009's most successful publisher? Is that plausible?

What was it like 2008? I was under the assumption it'd be complete Nintendomination.

(edit) 2008 VGC numbers:

America:

PublisherYear
Nintendo 64,468,578
Electronic Arts 49,274,204
Activision 36,506,655
Ubisoft 30,328,077

Japan:

PublisherYear
Nintendo 22,592,054
Namco Bandai 6,740,737
Capcom 4,906,064
Konami

4,805,425

Somehow I doubt WoW and Starcraft II can make up the difference for that many millions units of software.

300 industry professionals were surveyed. Can someone explain the results then?

Sure.

Le'see: Price cuts, recession, casuals lol, HD adoption, superior software, GTA RE5...

Oh, yes, and "(t)he survey was open to all members of the GamesIndustry.biz Network, and included all sectors of the business, from retail to publishing, and all roles, from testers to senior executives"

So basically, they asked Gamestop employees and 17-year old boys who want to create the next GTA.

Oh, wait, that was a redundant sentence, huh? Just teasing, anyone who works at Gamestop and doesn't fit that criteria. All three of you.

Which is why it is a profit thing.... almost half of Activision-Blizzards revenue comes from World of Warcraft... and considering much of that is revenue being pulled in for a game that doesn't really need much spent on it it (some expansions are developed I presume) is a huge amount of profit.

Except that theory then doesn't fit with only 54% voting Nintendo the most profitable hardware manufacturer.

Arguably then it could be revenue instead of profit.... which then means having EA in third makes sense (EA haven't been making huge profit, but they still have huge revenue)

Except that also doesn't work for the hardware side.

Only 54.4% thought Nintendo would be the most successful console maker?
