Forums - Gaming - Downloadable Content(DLC)- Hate It or Love It.

I love the idea, as long as we buy a full game to begin with. Downloading new songs in Guitar Hero, extra maps for Halo 3 and Call of Duty, etc.--those are all great ideas. Same with something like The Lost and Damned, Shivering Isles, and Bring Down the Sky. With GTA IV, Oblivion, and Mass Effect, respectively, we got full, lengthy, feature-packed games when we bought the disc. Extending the value is a great idea, as long as we aren't forced to pay extra for the full experience.

What Namco does--charging you to level up your character or something like that stinks.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I Hate it with a passion, especially when they decide to leave something out just to nickel and dime us into buying it later. There is a rumor that Dee Jay and T.Hawk will be released as DLC for SF IV, man that irks me. I don't like those characters, but I feel that if they are to be added as DLC, they should have been in it from the start (especially since the SF IV producer said that there won't be characters added through DLC....)

Definetely hate it. Give me my full game, give me what I paid for, and give it to me now.

Ditto, especially when the DLC is planned (and sometimes ready!) from release day. Even completely new DLC annoys me...I'd rather they just go the expansion pack route.

I'd also like to add that I like DLC the size of expansion packs, but only if it's for a reasonable price.

And I also like FREE DLC.

Certain little bonuses are fun to get later in the game, but some things just should have been in the game in the first place

Take Mega Man 9: It was ok to pay for Protoman and for the Extra Stage, but it was not ok to pay for extra difficulty levels. It's something that's decided case-by-case

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Depends how it is done.

DLC that is just a code/pass to unlock something on the disc but that you can't use - HATE.

DLC that costs money and is released day/week of game release - HATE, this should have just been on the disc and part of the game.

DLC that is released a month or two after release, costs money - LIKE.

DLC that is free - LIKE.

Exclusive DLC - F**K you moneyhatters.

Unfortunately most DLC falls into category 1, 2 or 5.

So... moral of the story is always release DLC at least a month or two after the game.  Got it.
