Agreed. RolStoppalbes accomplishments are impressive. But has anyone else out there besides me, beat Contra for the NES witout dying or using any special weapons?

Anyone?

I've beaten it without dying but I did use special weapons. Never tried to do it without special weapons.

Anyway, here are a few of the games I've beaten that I consider somewhat difficult:

Castlevania (w/o dying)

Castlevania II

Castlevania III (all 4 endings)

Castlevania Bloodlines

Castlevania Adventure (GB)

Castlevania II (GB)

Contra (w/o dying)

Super C (w/o dying)

Contra III

Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden II

Ninja Gaiden III

Journey to Silius

Batman

Blaster Master

Ghouls 'N Ghosts

Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts

etc.

EDIT:  Someone mentioned StarTropics 1 and 2, beaten both of those w/o any cheats.  No need for them really; they're not that hard of games IMO.  The last parts of 1 are pretty tough I guess.

Tetris Party Friend Code = 116129046416 (ditto)

@ el principe

beating Castlevani w/o dying = very impressive and amazing! I could get as far as Dracula, and never seemed to nail him without dying. I would get there with a triple potion knowing I would need it for Dracula's second form, but then would get nervous and not play Dracula's first form successfully.

Did you use the pause trick to beat that frog boss in Blaster Master? That was the only way I could beat that game.

EDIT:
oh, and maybe it's because i was like 6 years old when i last played A boy and His Blob.... but did anyone beat that? It seemed confounding.

That was one of those games I wanted to play and never got around to it. Could not find it for rent anywhere. Was it as confounding as Maniac Mansion?

Beat Mewtwo on Super Hard in 12 seconds (Pokemon Puzzle League)
Beat the whole Pokemon Yellow (including Elite 4) in 12 hours.
Completed SM64 DS with all 150 stars within 3 days.
Finished Paper Mario: TYD on Level 31 with no badge or FP upgrades.
Got maxiumum % on all DKC games.
Complete Banjo-Tooie with all items (jingos, cheato pages, honey combs)
Finished Yoshi's Story in half an hour.

Have completed over 1 thousand games (with 100% on many of them) in the past 15 years.

I feel ripped off. My thread was better. Just joking fagarcia76. Great idea for a thread. My most impressive feats are beating games on all levels and starting a game that I have never played on the hardest setting.

Odin Sphere - started the game on hard and had no problem at all

Legend of Legaia - never took my time power leveling. Finished the game at level 35 (average) and even defeated Lapis, the secret boss.

Streets of Rage 3 - finished the game without using the player 2 continues

Double Dragon 3 - finished single player without save states or game genie codes

Karate Kid - just finished it

Mega Man 2 - played on hard my 1st time and beat it

Moonwalker (master system) - try beating the last boss (2 hours to get there and 1 more to get past him)

Castlevania (gameboy) - beat it 3 times in a row, the catch is: 1st time enemies take one health bar (from 10), 2nd 2, 3rd time they all hit for 4 ( the bosses can kill you with 2 hits), the 4th time I gave up (8 out of 10 for every hit is too much)

Contra Spirits (GB) - it is the Contra 3 dumbed down, on the hardest level you only got 2 lives and no continue

Mystical Ninja Goemon’s Great Adventure - the hardest N64 game IMHO

Devil May Cry 3 - try it if you can

Fatal Frame - on the hardest level everything kill you with 1 or 2 hits and it is impossible to not get hit

Kingdom Heats - started the game on the hardest setting, it was much harder than I expected

Oni - finished the game (it is one of the hardest games on PS2, have crappy controls and the game sucks)

The Red Star - a new game that plays like old games (very hard)

Farcry (PC) - the normal setting is harder than HALO on legendary, I started the game on one setting abobe normal

Battletoads in battlemaniacs - no need to explain this one

Barts Nightmare - hard game + crappy controls = incredible feat

True Lies - finished it today

Hey Rol, something odd I noticed in your list (BTW you kick ass which you already knew anyway) why were you able to beat Orcarina faster then Wind Waker? I thought Wind Waker was the shorter game? Was this due to the fetch quest at the end of WW?

Back in the day, my brother and I use to act like a tag team crew while playing games.  We never had enough money to buy what we wanted so we use to rent all the time.  We'd clear games during the rental period (at that time you'd only get a bit over 24 hours on a rental).  We cleared Final Fantasy 2 U.S. in 24 hours (and returned the game before it was due back) we also cleared Zelda a Link to the Past in 8 hours.  Yoshi's Island we cleared in about 4-6 hours.  Final Fantasy 3 U.S. we cleared in about 18 hours (though it felt way longer).  We'd take turns sleeping and wake each other up during big story moments.  Those were the days...  Can't say I've done many impressive game things since...  I clear a lot of DS, Wii and GC games... but I have a ton of games which haven't been cleared and I rarely go back to replay a game again.  Though I have many favourite games which I wouldn't mind playing over and over again.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

My mom used to do no-warp speed runs for Super Mario Bros 1 and 3. She is casually playing NSMB now, but I have a feeling once she beats it the beast will return.

I don't remember all the games I beat or achievements, but here are 2 recent Wii ones.

Blazing Angels, Wii; beat every level on the highest ranking on the second play through; no deaths the second time. (Not even in the ice level) I was a little pissed because you don't get a super bad plane or something for doing all that. I got the jets on my first run through.

Here's one for my homie, I'll miss you Joe.

All but 3 Pink Elebits... Arghh! Now Metroid comes out so I probably will never find them.

I guess its not that impressive.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

If you found them without any help; I'll say it was impressive.  I tired finding them without out help, but gave up in time.  Some of those challenge modes are done right ridiculous!

Honestly the reason why I have so many isn't even because I was looking for them, alot was luck and because I played through the levels so much (because the game is so much fun).

I don't really play for achievements, I just thought my Mom deserved some attention... she doesn't go onto forums.  Or does she?  Mom, you there?  It's Stev-ala.

Most of my older achievements would be in the old arcade to NES/SNES port days, Soul Calibur 1, and Golden Eye.  Like I said not very impressive; especially compared to Rol, elPrincipe, and ItsaMii.

i beat MGS2 on european extreme mode without being spotted a single time, no saves either, if i got spotted i started the entire game over.
then i did the same with MGS3

beat Perfect Dark(N64) on perfect mode with no deaths

got 248 hours logged into FFXII, retrieved every single item in the game with all perfect characters

got 100% completion on GTA3, VC, and SA, not exactly hard, but i don't figure most people bother to(no cheats either =p)

beat six of my friends in rotation at Soul Blade(PSX) letting them pick my character and weapon for me for over 11 hours, the last of em gave up after losing more than 20 or 30 times in a row, i usually didn't even getting hit.

working on very hard mode on Ninja Gaiden Sigma, then going for Master Ninja, if i get through that IT'S GOING IN MY SIGNATURE!!!
