Forums - Microsoft - A bad rumor I heard about downloadable content..

I heard that MS started the practice of putting locked content on game discs so that people would have to pay extra for all this content via 'downloadable content.'  I doubt this is true but has anyone else heard it?

Pixel Art can be fun.

EA mastered it nevertheless

 I think downloadable content in general is bullshit for the sole reason that I never feel like I paid for the full game.  Anyway, it's nice to see it confirmed.

epic said that they might make the last level of games downloadable so that if u buy used then u have to pay(it comes with a code so that u can get it for free if u buy new)which suks for people like me whom cant get live.oh and namco bandai did it for beautiful katamari

What game did Microsoft do this on?

I have not heard of that, or are you talking about what they did with Gears 2.

Gears 2 came with a download code that enabled you to get 4 or 5 extra horde maps. Those maps did not ship with the game, but were free to download. It is a one time code, and this I think it was just to cut down on the resale market of the game.

Consoles: Atari 5200, NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3

I'm talking about having the content already on the game disc and basically having to pay for this content via "downloadable content."

@JaggedSac a specific game wasn't mentioned.
