hum,

I dont know... should we review game ourself (by mod for example) ???

or make a post for each game where u can had news/video/sc/REVIEW ???

Time to Work !

Maybe users could write reviews that get approved by mods before posting so as to ensure a certain level of quality? Ask the mods then! Would be great posting and reading reviews on Vgchartz.

I agree with the review forum idea, and the notion of having the reviews approved by mods. A review means little is it is not balanced, and that is perhaps the tricky part. A lot of us, myself included, favor a system ,and it would be extremely important that the review be as balanced as possible. Also, do we want the mods deluged with 180 Bioshock reviews and trying to pick the best one? Perhaps a review team should be selected by the mods and they should be given assignments.

Not a bad idea, but it's a bit problematic in practice.

I've managed relatively large Internet boards before, and I know that one of the tricks to keep community boards active is to avoid over-segmentation of forum structure. Over-segmentation creates two problems -- topic overlapping and dispersion.

That is, if you make too many forums and divide up the community too much, thread topics will start overlapping more and more across forums. If you rigorously try to avoid overlapping, discussions instead will get too dispersed across the board, making each forum less active.

Before you make a new forum, you need to ask if thread topics in a new forum will fairly overlap with ones in the current forums. In this case, they do. And then think if you take away all the reviews and related discussions from the existing forums, how active these forums will be -- a lot less active.

If you look at other discussion boards out there, there are literally thousands of unsuccessful boards due to this over-segmentation. Because most administrators overestimate user activity, they make too many forums, hoping that each will be filled with tons of threads and posts. Yet discussions usually get decentralized too much and their boards become stagnant overall.

There's one exception, however. You can divide up the board with many forums and can still keep the community active only when there are overwhelmingly many registered users online at any given time. This forum usually has only about 80-200 registered users online at a time, and this isn't really big enough to overcome the problems of segmentation.

Reviews are a tricky thing, and I honestly don't want to have to check every review to make sure it isn't biased or incorrect.

I think it's best to discuss reviews from other sites...and I think it's good enough to separate games by Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and PC...new threads about reviews in those forums seems to work, in my opinion.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

How about if Vgchartz users have a small forum where they can post links to user reviews they've written on other sites or their own website? Then the same forum can be used to specifically discuss user reviews.

Actually, I see the points that omoneru and BenKenobi88 were making. On one hand, increased user input sounds good- the catch is making it work. At the very least, each major game seems to have its own thread. A link to a personal review could be given however:
1. you can already state your opinion in the thread
2. Reviews on personal sites can vary widely in quality and content. On my yahoo 360 page I did a trial post that was a review of Gamefly so that I could see how the site worked. It was not the finest writing I have ever done
3. Linking to a personal site is a way to include inflammatory comments while trying to avoid forum oversight.

Sorry, isn't there a user review section on every game?

The Destructoid Review Forumhandles things pretty nicely.  It's pretty much one thread for each game (made when someone actually makes the first review) and then people add onto that thread.  It's simple, clean, and people seem to understand it pretty well.
