Minor... You probably won't notice because Microsoft is doing a 2 game bundle at the same time with Halo/Wars. People really only think of PS3 sales as relative to last year, the Xbox 360 of the previous year and the Xbox 360 of the current year. Since the PS3 is down against measure 1/3 the only way people will take notice is if PS3 sales are > 360 sales, which IMO probably won't happen. (See first line)

It will cause the PS3 to sell amounts previously unheard of in the gaming industry. We are looking at potential 20M+ first hour sales followed by killer legs that extend its reach to around the 75-80M lifetime range.

This is a conservative estimate however, I think it could go even higher.

That however is just software, in terms of hardware I believe we will see a permanent spike in sales and we will never see the PS3 drop below 400k weekly WW sales in 2009.

I dont think killzone 2 will be a system seller to be honest...it will sell a couple million games, but not much of a console boost. Maybe up to 200,000 WW first week for the ps3

First week - 25% increase (172,500)
Second week - 10% drop (155,300)
Third week - 10% drop (139,800)

Biggest issue of the PS3 right now is its price, not its titles so I doubt we will see any big increase.

As a PS3 owner and fan, I don't think KZ2 will push console sales. The significance of the title is to start off the number of postivie news and attention for the console, that would be consistently followed up by future titles in 2009 (Infamous, Heavy Rain, GOW, FFXIII in Japan, etc). The PS3 and PSP suffer, not from a lack of games, inferior hardware, harware issues, etc, but aside from price, a lack of marketing and attention. I was listening to the IGN podcast, and they were absolutely right, the PSP has plenty of games, its just that non-PSP owners aren't getting the news.

The importance of Killzone 2 will be to get non-PS3 owners to actually click on that non-Xbox/Wii news article. Sony needs to continue being on the front page of game magazines, news media, forums, etc. Right now its doing a good job (although I think GOW III was a bit rushed, unless they have even more stuff to show throughout the year) as we can see with this thread.

You know how people say "bad publicity is good publicity"? Its the same situation, and Sony has no publicity. That's why 2009 is their year to capitalize, as there is a lack of block buster titles such as GeOW II to overshadow excellent games such as Valkyria Chronicles, Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet. They need to get the spotlight on them...

The game should move no systems. Maybe if GG knew how to code the right analog stick they would of had a chance.

I think we'll certainly see a bump maybe to 220,000 bout I doubt any more than that. Then a sharp decrease in the following two weeks and back to its normal sales with 3 weeks. Nothing long term they need a pricecut in order for that to happen.

I really don't have much to say. I will give you my response to Killzone 2 sales once the game is released. Until then, I can't really say if this game will help ps3 hardware sales. Many people have talked about how some games will help improve ps3's hardware but the game always fall short. I just really want to see what the first week sales are going to be worldwide and see if it affects ps3 sales.
