Forums - Sales - Dutch Video Game Market 2008

Damn ya, was looking at the software sales, my bad. that is more easily explained by budget games, and what not. then in console pricing it more raises an eye that pricecuts have had little effect on the console amount-price ratio.

True, the price cuts have meant significantly less total revenue for Sony and MS (after all the HW revenue for Wii likely went up) but the question is, would the sales have been so low in 2008 without a cut, that depite more revenue per system they would have made less total revenue. We just don't know.

(Also some lost revenue wll have been falling PS2 sales as well)

According to the IMF the Netherlands is the #8 ranked in GDP (PPP) per capita. So it's one of the countries where we can expect BluRay adoption to be highest.

BluRay has 2.74% of the revenue and 1.13% of the units. That's pretty bad imo.

Console gaming is pretty big here, didn't know that. I always thought PC gaming was pretty close in Western Europe.

I still think PC gaming is bigger in the Netherlands, maybe not in revenue (even when DLC is included, although everybody I know buys from the internet) but in playtime and total games I really think it is, this includes torrents of course.
