The quotation you've pointed out is exactly what I was thinking of. I know English is not your first language, so hopefully this won't seem overly didactic: the placement of the adverbial modifier "only" is very important here. Examine:

"I've never "actually" said Kingdom Hearts will only loose fans"

This is what you said. This sentence means that a platform change would cause Kingdom Hearts to lose fans, and that it would gain absolutely zero new fans from the change. All that would happen is that people would abandon the franchise.

"The only thing you mentioned is that Kingdom Hearts could lose fans if it switched consoles"

This sentence means that you stated that the platform changes would lose fans, but that other statements could also be made (and later, I suggested that you knew this was true, but just hadn't stated it). The difference, again, is where the "only" is placed -- for the first statement, the change to the Wii would "only lose fans," while in the second sentence, "only" applies to "mentioned," as in only one thing was mentioned.

I'm willing to bet quite a lot of money that there are more PS2 owners (even on this board) with Wiis than PS3s (including myself)... user bases don't simply transfer between consoles and console successors without changing. There is no brand loyalty in most of the market, and you are severely overestimating the effects of it on the fanbase of specific games. This is especially true with a game like KH, which failed to attract much of the PS2's teenage crowd who is the primary focus of the PS3.

Although Square Enix is the developer, the others were correct in their point that most of the game IS owned by Disney, not Square. Square was paid to make a game for Disney, not the other way around. Disney and Square both show plenty of support to the Wii, so there really shouldn't be any issues there.

Graphically, KH exists on a very delicate balance between the cartoon style of Disney movies and the realism of Kingdom Hearts. Although it's certainly possible to enhance cartoonish graphics, such enhancements are much less pronounced and have little effect. I think the game was done very well on the PS2 and could be enhanced very capably with the Wii. It could be enhanced even more with the PS3, but with the style of Kingdom Hearts, I don't think that's really necessary. It's certainly not worth the sales risks you face from a developer standpoint.

No, have you checked every single household in the world either? I know many people with a PS2 and a Wii, and I know no one with a PS3 (at all). The people who frequent the Playstation forums are a small subset of the PS2 userbase, and the exact subset who would prefer a PS3 over a Wii. Check Nintendo forums (hell, just look in here, there's a thread about this somewhere) and you'll see that many people want a Wii and couldn't care less about the PS3. You'll find many of these people owned a PS2 as well.

Of course Sony fans will want to stick with Sony consoles, just like Nintendo fans would like to stick with Nintendo consoles, but these people are the vast minority Most people couldn't care less about brand name and simply want the console that they think will give them the most enjoyment for their dollar. And at the moment, most people seem to be picking the Wii for that. For every PS2 owner who is waiting on a price drop on the PS3, there are probably 10 that will just walk into a store one day and pick up the console that looks the best to them.

This "wait until the PS2 userbase that is waiting for the PS3 price to drop" argument is ridiculous, because the majority of the PS2 user base is made up of casual gamers who couldn't care less about what company makes the console in their house.

Do you actually see me writing that? No, because about what game were we talking about? Ah yes Kingdom Hearts. I know Nintendo fanboys would like to believe that, all the SE franchises would hit the WII and so Sony has nothing left. But how would you respond if at one day it will be announced Zelda is hitting the PS3? Would you buy a PS3? Be honest, would you? Then you know the feeling of how the Playstation fans are feeling once Kingdom Hearts is leaving the PS platform.

I agree with what you said, because in the Dutch OPM (Official Playstation Mag, they had a poll, that asked will you buy a ps3? And you could choose: Nope buying 360, Buying 360 first, Nope buying Wii, Buying Wii first, Waiting for price to go down or hell yeah. Most of the people (don't remember how much) voted: waiting for price to go down. 2nd place was first a wii, 3rd place was: Hell yeah

Of course it is only a playstation magazine, and it's only available for Belgiums, dutch or luxemburgers.

But still Maybe there are a lot ps2 people in those country's...

I'm amazed when I see people saing "OMG not on tha Wii". I was here when FinalFantasy gone to Nintendo-to-Sony. And what I did ? Got a PSX for playing the game.

So now what ?

• Come on, it's KH, the game don't need to be realistic
• The game got Disney's character. (good for Wii targets)
• PS3 UB is not enought for Square-Enix to make maney. At least in front of Wii US around the world.

If Square-Enix is clever enought they'll put it on PS2 like actualy still do a lot developer in Japan because of is UB. Or maybe they'll do it on both PS2 and Wii like do some other

Maitre Taylor, there is a lot of truth and sense in what you said. It is because of money that will lead Disney/SE to the Wii for KH3. It is also because the people who support the Disney characters (the casuals) would most likely love to buy this game, and the KH supporters will follow the game anywhere. Not to mention the random people who'll just pick up the game. That's enough to sell millions more than the PS3, and reason enough for KH3 to be on Wii.

First of all, what has age got to do with the fact that several people don't wish to see KH on the WII? Not everyone has to agree with each other, good thing, would else be dull if we all would agree with one another.

I've said it before, Little Big Planet, Disgaea 3 and Ratchet & Clank aren't realistic games either but the first and the latter one are looking amazing on the screens.

AND THEN: You just came up with a "world peace" plan among the PS and Nintendo fans concerning this matter, a PS2 and a WII port version! People who own a WII can play it on their WII, those with a PS2, can play the PS2 version and the ones with a PS3 only can play it anyway as PS3 games support PS2 games.... so if that would happen, then everybody is happy???!!
