Forums - Nintendo - Will the Wii ever get a decent WRPG title?

I don't see why not. HVS said they could do an RPG and Conduit looks nice.

Yes, Conduit looks nice but how does that relate to HVS making a decent WRPG? It might very well be horrible, shooters and RPG's are quite different. Do you think only about visuals?

The Wii will get a decent WRPG title roughly one year after the WRPG developers get over their graphics-are-everything fetish.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

Be the ultimate ninja! Play Billy Vs. SNAKEMAN today! Poisson Village welcomes new players.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I hope so!

*Fingers crossed for an awesome Fable 1 port on the Wii*

WRPGs will come to the Wii when/if it hits a minimum of 60% marketshare in Europe/America. Until then, they will stay on the HD consoles, because the Wii sales won't justify a Wii-based WRPG until then.

Nailed it down to an exact percentage number, did you?

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Well if the conduit turns out well, there is a chance that their next serious game will as well.

Is Little Kings Story part of the WRPG genre?

The developers and Publishers are Japanese so I assume no. Also the game is more strategy than anything.

I think there probably be a wrpg, but i dont think that it will be as playable or fulfilling as a Fable or even Fallout 3

Nope won't happen. Western Developers are on the HD bandwagon and they like it that way. Ok the older developers are stuck in that mental rut, but plenty would rather have the freedom of letting bad code rather than having to make it run well on a lesser CPU system.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

I loved Burnout 2 but Black was so and so (Criterion). Jumping genres is quite tough, especially genres far apart. Making a good FPS (if it is good, guess we'll know sometime this year) does not automatically guarantee that they'll make a good RPG.

But, yes it is certainly possible, just not very likely imo.
