"we are not anti-FF7 we just know how awesome Yuri is"

That doesn't explain how the majority of vgchartz isn't anti-FF7.

They must have played Tales Of Vesperia, you sould to if you get a chance.But yeah they are some anti-FF7 in this thread.I did not see Cloud as emo at all.I thought Cloud was very human and he had a very deep and complex backstory.

I find it funny that people think HP and Damage done are consistant across all RPGS.

Hell they aren't even consistant within series.

Hell they aren't even consistant within games!

As for cooler character... Well "Fighter" from Final Fantasy 1 is a cooler character then Cloud so....

 I didn't even read this post before I posted and whadya know. -_-

A character with no personality is better then a lame character.

Plus...

You do tend to dislike a game when you buy a console for it and the game turns out to suck.

A character with no personality isn't much of a character, nor should even be considered a character.

Sure it is.  Just look up the definition of a character.

char·ac·ter (krk-tr)

4. Moral or ethical strength.
5. A description of a person's attributes, traits, or abilities.

So no.... He is not a better "Character" then Cloud, far from it. By this definition, Cloud is one of the best of all time.

and how exactly is Cloud the least bit "LAME" ?

He was a very boring character in a very boring story surrounded by very boring characters... and Mr. T with a gun arm.

Also....

fictional character: an imaginary person represented in a work of fiction

Videogames = work of fiction.

People you play = characters.

Any other such insinuation makes the genric dudes cry.

Also being really not caring because something bad happened is emo.

Yuri fits in the definition quite well as well.

@Kasz

My definition is much more descriptive. An imaginary or fictional character is just that, a CHARACTER that is imaginary. That does not mean the core definition of a character does not apply.

As a result, Warrior or whoever is not a character because he is devoid of personality or distinctive traits(besides his class).

It's more descriptive.... yet not correct.

Plenty of characters in literary history are only known by what they've done and not by their personalities... at all.

Is it your claim that Beowulf is not a character?

Beowulf is also only known by his deeds with no mention of personality.

uhhh........Beowulf has a personality. What do you think all those lines of text are in his story? And so does Grendal for that matter.
