Because I believe I can make solid judgments :P Plus I've already watched the OVA...the story doesn't seem as good as the others.

And because most Tales fans wouldn't agree with that.

Just a small clue, Tales games don't have very good stories.  They're normally very flawed, full of cliches, card-board cut-out character personalities, random angst, and stupid localization mistakes.  Localization mistakes annoy me greatly though as they completely destroy the atmosphere.  Why does the guy who specializes in selling all manner of sharp, pointy killing instruments introduce himself with "Cats are cute" anyway?  Sorry but quality writing is very much lacking in the Tales games I've played.

i was talking about the stupid localization yesterday and how i hate hearing the horribly mistranlated words, " darkness devour ain soph aur", do guys who do the localizatoin know no english, why do the guys who do the dubbing don't correct what they are saying? and tales stories are indeed superficial, but the villians usually have a good story such as mithos or dhaos.

I agree.  The villains are usually the most interesting characters in the game for me.  While the heroes usually feel wishy washy and somewhat boring, the villains are quite interesting.  I really liked Dhaos as a villain though I can't say the same for Mithos. Mithos (and ToS in general) suffers from the fact that I played ToS and Xenosaga relatively close together timewise.  The result is that Mithos gets compared to villains like Albedo and pretty much annihilated in every area.

yes, heros are the usual "lets stay together and our dreams will come true, yaii" tales of vesperia try to go the other direction with yuri, trying to make him badass adn stuff, but the result was a character you couldn't relate to and an asshole insted of a badass dude.

Yuri an asshole!!!!!!!!!WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexei is an asshole

Sephiroth is an asshole

BUT YURI !!!!!!!!!!!!He is far from an asshole and he is a badass

I was excited about the idea of an RPG on the Wii, but I think I'll get Muramasa (sp?) over this game. If it proves me wrong and turns out to be a good quality game, I will definitely get it.

3DS FC: 1306 6473 7511

Nintendod Network ID: xsorenx

Add me for Pokemon, New Leaf, and Fire Emblem, Mario Kart 8.

ARF looks decent but I'm more interested in Fragile and Muramasa

have you played Tales of the abyss or Vesperia?

I have not played Vesperia and Abyss I avoided based on the fact that quite a few people claimed it was the worst in the entire Tales franchise.

Some people think those two are the worst in the series because they have the most complex stories and they don't understand it.

I could've sworn I heard the exact opposite about Vesperia and Abyss.  Must've heard wrong.

exact opposite of what?

Yuri is both badass and helpful. If it was not for his action during the game alot of people would had suffered and DIED!!!!!

ARF dopes not seem like an RPG that will have anything groundgreaking for the genre. The game is more like a collection of good elements used in other games that emcompass an average good story.

Does that make a game mediocre? I don't think so. The developers are placing efforts in delivering an RPG on the system that really lacks in the genre.

Will be a massive success? No. but it will sell enought to make a good profit.

I will buy it because it looks like a good RPG and I love RPG, is my third most wanted game.

I haven't played Phantasia (yet)...but I highly doubt it's better than the rest.

aren't you a big RPG/tales fan, not playing phantasia is like a sin for those of us who like the tales franchise, the game is pure awesmoness and Dhaos is one of the best final bosses ever almost as awesome as mithos

As awesome as Phastasia was, the final boss fight, final form, for the SNES version was annoying.

You can only hit him 1 out of 10 seconds because of the lights, and once I got behind him, I just spammed teleport slash the entire fight without Cless taking any damage.

In that case...most RPGs are average then.

...isn't that the way things are supposed to work? Or is there another definition of "average" that I don't know about?

On topic, I find myself agreeing with Words of Wisdom on this one. For some strange reason, I've never felt any particular excitement about this title, and everything I've read seems to indicate "by the numbers." Of the Wii's JRPGs, I was least interested in this one, and that hasn't changed yet.
