Forums - General - 'Open Mind'

A Rant:

I just came to the realization that I see this idea all throughout the off topic forums. If anyone tells you to read something an "Open Mind" they are probably trying to get you to believe in some bullshit. In fact, wouldn't it be better to be reading with a skeptical mind. I imagine that would be much better. In fact most people would probably stop believing everything they read.

On the other hand 'closed minded'  has a pretty negative connotation. I like this little binary here. It really places the entirety of man kind into two categories - Fools and Cynics.

I am going to start writing 'read this with a skeptical mind'- think about it, engage with it. This open mind crap has got to go because most shit is bullshit.

End Rant

Anyone else realize that people only want you to have an open mind when trying to persuade you to their side and tell you to be 'cautious' when reading or engaging with anything that might be contrary?

OP question: Yes.

so what your saying is my thread are perfectly what your wanting. lol

Still I would rather instead have some of the members on this site have a more open mind. I seriously hate how they judge me as a fanboy and a troll for expressing an unbiased opinion in a topic.

'unbiased opinion' - thank you for this.

If I've learned anything on this site or in life. Logic doesn't persuade people from their preferences. It's like trying to argue that brunettes are better than blondes or vice versa. It's hopeless. I was mainly thinking more about journal articles, studies or something that someone is trying to assert as fact . If someone is trying to assert preference as fact, then that is just stupid.
