You think Gran Turismo 5 won't give a major boost?

A system seller is essentially a popular franchise from past platforms that is making it's first appearance on current platforms, and might bring a few people that haven't yet upgraded along with it. Very rarely is a new IP from the current gen enough to get people to move on up, but it does happen occasionally (Wii Sports, and, to a lesser extent, Gears of War).

The only two conceivable "system sellers" that Sony has left are Gran Turismo 5 and God of War III, the latter being quite trivial compared to the former. God of War III won't move that many systems, surely, but it will probably move a few.  As such, it is a quite small system seller.  Very small, in fact.

Final Fantasy XIII is also a system seller, particularly in Japan where the franchise is most popular and still exclusive.

The only game I see at this point that will bring a huge boost to PS3 sales is Grand Turismo 5. The series has brought a boost to the sales of the past Playstation consoles and GT5 will do no different. God of War III will have some great sales but its not a game that I can see moving the ps3 hardware sales. Grand Turismo 5 is the only game I see getting th job done. However, FFXIII or versusXIII could get the job done too since one game is exclusive in Japan and the other one is a PS3 exclusive.

Just like Killzone 2 and the "Second coming", "Messiah" and "Halo Killer" terms. Just more fabricated bullshit that the cry babies try to put in PS3 fans mouths.

Thing is that people are not claiming it is a system seller, they just are creating ammo to use against them. This bullshit is why PS3 fans get articles written about them. After so long people begin to believe all this horse shit. It is already bad that XBox fans run a site "SDF" just to make PS fans look bad. (I heard this the other day on this site)

It is no big problem though because it says more about them then it does about the PS fanbase.

The term is used too loosely, a game can sell 1 system and technically it is a system seller. If the definition of "system seller" is along the lines of selling thousands of consoles GOW 3 will not be one, the only one which comes to mind is GT5 but it seems to be too late for that one to do anything.

Both games will sell huge amounts in their own right (GT5 wiping the floor with GOW III) but I do not expect any of the games to release and suddenly have a week where they sell more than the Wii.

Did you see the boost Prologue gave the ps3?  Why would the full game, one that will probably outsell Prologue bt at least 5x, not do something similar, if not much better?

I would say Gears of War moved some systems. It didn't on day one, but it did after people played it. That is pretty normal for a new IP that happens to be a great game. (Every game that sells more than 2 million copies move systems, maybe not on day one)

Actually, I don't understand people buying consoles for one game at all. Okay, I will buy the next Xbox on day one, just because I loved the original Xbox and the Xbox360. So for me it is the system + the games on it that sell consoles.

I don't understand people waiting for a Halo / MGS / FF etc to buy a console. Why left out 3 years of gaming if you know you are buying the console anyway?
