Maybe, just maybe, Japan is getting a little "Final Fantasied" out ...

Between the PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS there seems to have been quite a few Final Fantasy games released in the past little while with several on the way ...

That's kind of what I was thinking.  You can't open a game mag or get on a game forum without hearing about some sort of Final Fantasy game either out now, coming out shortly, or a future game being hyped.  I know I'm totally and completely fed up with hearing about anything final fantasy on any platform.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Not bad, but not incredible. You also have to remember that core games can have HUGE legs in Japan. Look at Phantom Hourglass. It will be interesting to see how it does for the week and in the long run.

I think its a good number ,not records-shattering but very good it will probably do some 200K and thats a megahit in only 1 week .

BTW, it is not guaranteed that Crisis Core will outsell it, not just because of the DS to PSP userbase, but because of how unpredictable this gen has become.

Then again, Crisis Core could become the PSP's long awaited killer app. It's just not certain right now.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

According to Shinobi, the first shipment of FF:CC is about 240k. (About half of shipments are sold) Based on the movement of preorders, 120k isn't so bad number. There is no doubt SE didn'd advertise it...

Am I the only one who read this post? Half of the shipments sold isn't bad at all.

Not a bet I'd take, but how confident about Crisis Core are you?  Confident enough to wager it against DQIX?

In Japan alone? Nope. I expect it to move around 350k - 500k copies during week one. It's enough to trample Crystal. 1 million lifetime in Japan alone. 2,5 - 3,0 million worldwide. DQIX has no release date so far... I don't expect it to hit stores this year.

That's a huge number for CC.  I doubt it will break 1.5 million lifetime worldwide.  However, you're right that it's probably too far off for us to consider worldwide sales comparison.  I am fairly confident however that DQIX will top CC in worldwide lifetime sale by a very large amount.
