If just a handful of the upcoming 3rd party titles do well, it will definitely start a very positive trend. I sure hope deweys adventure does well here even though it didn't do so well in Japan. I know I'll be getting it for my daughter. SMG looks like a fun platformer, but again, for my wife and daughter. Manhunt 2, now, on the other hand, is something I will most certainly be looking into with great interest. I hope that game is a million seller because it will move that developer strongly into the Wii column...

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Why wasn't this a problem for PS1 and PS2? PS1 was filled of showelware and shit games for two years and it wasn't untill FFVII that some quality games started to hit the consol.

Yes, it was a problem but at that time in the console wars, quantity over quality seemed to win the day over. Today I don't see that formula as being successful due to a lot of factors -- instantaneous information availability being one of them. In my opinion (and it appears it's going downhill here for me), quantity over quality is going to do exactly the opposite in this generation...

For me, I must agree that quality above quantity has always been the deal, sadly I can't belive that everyone belives the same. There is also a big difference in what we see as quality: I personally can't undrstand why someone would think it would be fun to buy a pet simialtor, but Nintendodogs seems to show that a lot of people find this fun.

Anyway that doesn't matter, even when Harry Potter, Transformers and more get shit reviews it sells a lot so I can't say that I think you are right. Of course every consol needs good solid titles, but I would say that Wii gets (if you live in USA) at least 7 of those the rest of the year. Sadly only two of them is 3rd party, Zak and Wiki (BUY IT, save point and click PLEASE) and GH3. Still I think Wii can survive two years of showeware but after that I do hope that some japanese studio have started to understand that it could be a good idea to support Wii (I don't have much faith in the western devs).

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Im not so sure people would recognize it. We havehad Red Steel and Rayman sell over a million, we have had Trauma Center become the BEST selling game by Atlus ever, we have had RE:4 soaring past Capcoms expectations, we have had Harry Potter outsell the 360 and PS3 versions, we had Tigerwoods Wii outsell its 360 version, We have had DQ:S approaching 500k in a few weeks, Mario party (made by Hudson not Nintendo) tearing things a part, Cooking Mama seriously saving the developers rear ends helping them get out of the red, and later this fall Guitar Hero 3 will do well and Madden will do decently so on and so forth,

and yet people are still saying "If only a few more 3rd party titles would do well". At this point, it seems that no matter what the 3rd partys sell people arent willing to admit there is 3rd party success on the Wii. We keep finding ways to disqualify them all:

"Well rayman and redsteel were launch titles, and Trauma center was a DS port up, and RE:4 is one of the best games of last hen, and who cares about Harry potter, Tiger woods was obviously better suited for the wii, and DragonQuest anything always sells, Mario Party sucks, Cooking Mama is casual garbage, and GH3 sells well on ANYTHING"

When you eliminate every 3rd party game that sells well through some means of filtering, how can then turn and say 3rd party games dont sell well on Wii? But thats not the grandest of irony. The biggest is watching remake vs remake (RE:Wii vs NinjaGaiden Sigma) and overall 3rd party sales vs the PS3 that the Wii is shattering. And noticing how we never see a thread titled "PS3's lack of 3d party success"

You guys have been conditioned the last 10 years that 3rd parties cant succeed on Nintendo and your stuck seeing things that way even though it has changed before your eyes. This gen has a new target that cant sell 3rd party software, and its not a Nintendo platform. Maybe in another year youll realize that.

But you are still ignoring reality. S-E, Majesco, EA, and Ubi are already doing well sales wise on Wii.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I think you convinced me...and I already agreed with you =P

To Each Man, Responsibility

I say wait until "No More Heroes" comes out and then we'll talk about lack fo 3rd party success. I think also 3rd party companies not only need to adjust to the new gamer group in terms of games, but also in terms of marketing. They can't use the same channels they've relied on previously.
