Forums - Sony - Playstation: The Official Magazine doesn't even try to act objective.

To what console was riddick ported? I bought an xbox just to play that game... And okami... And shenmue... And oddworld strangers wrath... And Kung fu mayhem....

You bought an Xbox to play Okami?

Really now.

It's not the fact that he mentioned that he would have liked to have the game on PS2 (it never actually got ported, by the way--I can't find any evidence of that), it's the fact that this 'professional' journalist spent almost half the article acting like some fanboy and not actually previewing the new game.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

The PC version was a (generally regarded as superior) port of the Xbox version, IIRC, but I think he's probably talking about all the late, buggy ports PS3 has gotten.

I take your point, though. It's definitely forum-quality writing and fanboyism unworthy of any magazine that wishes to be taken seriously.

Well if the playstation magazine was purley objective then what would be the purpose in it being called the "official playstation magazine" ?

They don't have to mention their fanboy objectives at all.  They could spend their preview page, you know, actually previewing the game.

I believe Sony Excecs, Fans and Faboys are in a League of their own. Thats not a compliment.

So?

I think you're into this a bit much.

I don't think anybody is expecting pure objectivity from an official magazine, but OXM does a really good job of shooting straight and taking Microsoft to task whenever they deserve it (RROD, lack of mandatory hard drives, criticisms of NXE, you name it). Most importantly, they don't ever engage in this type of "nya-nya-boo-boo, we stole your exclusive" shit (not even for Final Fantasy XIII). They even openly ridicule the console warz. The OXM writers seem like gamers first and foremost; this guy seems like a flaming fanboy.

Exactly.  Hell, they even managed to write an entire article about how great Killzone 2 looks without ruing the fact that it's not coming to the 360.

Can't judge them until you post the entire preview, not just 1/3rd of the article. Regardless, it seems like (from their experience) Starbreeze didn't put enough effort into the PS3 version, to the point that the 360 version is much more playable. If that's the case, then I would assume that any official magazine would hammer the game in relation to the 360 version. In this stage of the console cycle, you can't BS a port, and expect someone to preview it with good remarks.

Ptom is owned by Sony (correct me if I'm wrong). Making them preview a crap port of an anticpated title is more or less an insult to the company they work for, thus resulting in a harsh return of words.
