I hope not. I love FFVIII. It has the best battle system, imo, and I don't want SE to whore it out like some other game in the series. It should just stay the way it is.

*cough* FFVII *cough*

FF VII's seemed too...simple. FF VIII had a different feeling. Plus the angles in battle were way better and cooler. It definitely did have the best. I wish SE would reuse FF VIII's battle system, but take out the draw system and replace it with MP.

Amen! Think it should be learnt? cause I sure want it to be!

FF9 had the best system for me out of all the FF games on PSX imo.

Problem is though, it sucked hard when it comes to encounter. No "No Encounter" = a bitch! You gotta take baby steps if you want to avoid counter. I dunno if there's a trick to it though but that's how I do it.

Everything else such as skills learnt from Items, Equips and the Chocobo Side Quest(Next best thing next to Triple Triad) were all fantastic.

see i love the random

Random encounters FTW xD But i guess that even the PSX FF's didn't have as much random encountering as FF 4 and FF 5. Walking through the moon's surface to get to Bahamut's Cave in FF 4 had you getting into a battle almost in each step! xD And also in FF 5 in ExDeath Void world was also that bad :P
After getting almost 100+ encounters before you get to the boss, ExDeath felt like a walk in the park xD (Also battling Shinryu and Omega Weapon beforehand added to the fact that ExDeath was really easy :P)

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

i kind of prefer random encounters as well. I hate games with enemies on screen but you need to exit and re enter in order to get them to respawn (cough*starocean3, Xenosaga series*cough). if you are going to have enemies on screen you have to do it right ala FFXI,FFXII and soon to be FFXIII

@Mirson

Same here, FF VIII definitely did have the best music. FF IX's was epic as well with Dark Messenger, the theme of the two jesters (forgot their names), Mt Gulug (seriously love that), last boss music, etc. FF X I haven't played but is good to with Jecht (why can't we have more heavy metal FF music? Bring back Uematsu, btw!) and Seymour boss music.

FF IX is hands down the FF with the best music IMO. However, it's a mediocre FF... with the worst battle system ever.

Also, FF IX had a slow loading ATB bar. FF VIII's was fast. With Haste it's epic :P

Auto haste ability FTW!!!

I would usually have either Zell or Squall with auto haste and I would also junction haste in the speed attribute. The ATB would be full in just over a second lol

Nice. Although I have to admit I hardly utilised Irvine. I mostly just used Squall, Zell and Rinoa. Although Quistis was pretty good too with her plethora of abilities which she could learn.

Throughout the whole game, I barely grinded or used a lineup other than 3 constant characters. Just so later I could max everyone out using the Jumbo cactuar abilities of str, agi, etc etc plus.

Where does Quisty come into this? thanks to her and her Degenerator limit maxing out everyone was a piece of cake.

VIII is my "favorite" FF game. I'd buy a re-release on day 1, and I love the game.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
