This was the most cinematic and impressive game on the PlayStation in my opinion and my favorite Final Fantasy (FF8,FFX,FF7,FF6). If all the FFVII cash ins weren't so piss poor I would wish for some FFVIII love. FFVIII: Esthar Wars or Sorceress Origins shall never be.

I was addicted to Triple Triad. Best minigame ever.

FFVIII is definitly the best, the junction system is amazing and the bets system in any FF and also:

FFVIII>FFV>>FFVII>FFVI>>>FFIX>FFX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FFIV

XII and XI never existed for me. I, II and III are awsome and wya better than IV

I say:

FFXII >>>> FFVIII >>>> every other FF

Well, there's already a resident hater in this thread, so I won't bother.
Before I leave I will say that I agree with darth about FFV's Chocobo Theme, it is awsome. You guy may say shit about VIII being underrated, but as far as I know the most underrated FF is V. It blows VIII out of the water anyday.

I feel sad that so many great japanese games that don't appear here till years later or never appear get little to no recognition. Could you imagine playing the first Star Ocean or the first Front Mission or better yet, Seiken Densetsu 3 in your SNES back in the day? I only got to experience those games years later with emulators and fan translations, which is a very poor substitute for the real thing.

I would be glad if they did. SE's milking is usually quality and fan-pleasing milking, I loved Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. I've yet to play Crisis Core though...

I'd also like to add, that while FF VIII is a great game, it shouldn't be called an FF. The difference between 8 and others is just too big!

 It really isn't that big of a departure compared to other entires. FFXI took it from being a single player only to hundreds of thousands simultaneously. It killed off a lot of the fantasy aspects admittedly, but it is not much worse than any of them after 7 in that regard.

i would love to see this game released on xbl and psn, or be remade with todays graphics, something at least. its my favorite ff game and my 2nd favorite rpg ever.
