Nice to see i was right that the PS3 was being overtracked by about 25% in the past 5 weeks :)

So numbers compared to last year

Wii = 679k this year - 274k last year = 405k INCREASE = 147% UP

DS = 510k this year - 251k last year = 259k INCREASE = 103% UP

360 = 309k this year - 230k last year = 79k INCREASE = 34% UP

PS2 = 101k this year - 264k last year = 163k DECREASE = 61% DOWN

PSP = 172k this year - 230k last year = 58k DECREASE = 25% DOWN

PS3 = 203k this year - 269k last year = 66k DECREASE = 24% DOWN

Not a good day for the Sony fanboys then

Vgchartz data: (*0.9)

Wii = 746,234 (+67) +9.8%

DS = 562,021 (+52) +10.2%

360 = 340,986 (+32) +10.3%

PS3 = 219,355 (+16) +7.8%

PSP = 242,228 (+70) +40.7%

PS2 = 108,335 (+7) +6.9%

So we can see that aside from the PSP outlier Vgchartz was systematically higher by between 6.9-10.3%. This indicates that the methods are pretty sound overall with the exception of the PSP sales.

I was surprised to see the PS3 make it over 200,000 in this economy, I thought for sure it would fall below 200K.  Either way the decrease in YOY sales is not a good sign especially in the third year.

I'm awfully suspicious they did a Wii correction for December.

i think the biggest when here is:

why is the logo of SDF a giant crab?

thats supposed to be there most feared enemy

"this game is based on real events in japanese history"

GIANT CRAB POPS UP ON BATTLEFIELD

"hit the crabs weak point for massive damage"

____

remember?

 I think his question was why use that as a logo, when it was something used to constantly mock the PS3. And my guess is because SDF is all about spinning stuff against Sony into their favor. In this case, using the enemy crab as their logo to change it's preceived image from mockery to defense of Sony.

SDF is a site owned by an xbox fanboy.....this has been proven.

its a site to mock SONY fanboys by showing "desperation" in fanboyistic articles they make about the PS3 n how great the PS3 is n so on.

@fishyjoe

why? nintendo numbers itself confirmed Vg chartz had overtracked

I doubt it. The Wii is in line with the other systems by being between 6-10% over going from Vgchartz (*0.9) to NPD. Furthermore the difference itself is insignificant next to the numbers of Wii consoles sold in November and December.

You can put any conspiracy theories to rest.

By the way, the ps2 is very close to 100k.

Will they pull the trigger and go to 99$?

Dunno. Sony needs PS2 high profit margin so the question is will the sale bump be enough and durable thus to recoup the profit lost by the cut ?

+34% for the Xbox360 is great.

I just have to quote some PS3-fans 2007 (!!!): That is the peak year for the Xbox360. Halo3 was released, the Xbox360 has nothing left. Now the Xbox360 is in its fourth year and on track to set a new record. I still believe 12 million is doable this year.

-25% for PS3... well the PS3 has no chance to top the Xbox360 in NA.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

VGC = US + CAN

CAN generally = 10% of US sales

Thus the metric he used was .9

Actually it was orginally made as a response to Wii60.com by a bunch of pissed of Sony fanboys who didn't get along with the people at Wii60.com. There version didn't last long, then some of the people who ran Wii60 got a hold of it and turned it into the joke site it is now.

I was just explaining the logic behind the crab thing as thier logo. Absurd spin is what makes them so damn funny.

@Darth the generally accepted practice is to multiply the Vgchartz data by 0.9 to get the comparable American data to compare to the NPD as Vgchartz combines Mexico and Canada into one slice of data which is called 'Americas'
