Yep. It only had one rival: Street Fighter 2 for the SNES, a game that managed to move 2.88 million copys during its lifetime. Well that record was destroyed today, when Capcom had announced that Monster Hunter Portable 2 G for the PSP had shipped over 3 million copys in Japan alone.

Thats mighty impressive and easily puts the PSP on the top spot for software developers ( alongside the NDS ) in Japan :D

Half that amount? I'll be shocked to death if MH3 sells even a million copies on the Wii, let alone 1.5 mil. Chances are, it'll end up around 500k before sales die out and then MHP3 will come out and sell 3 million.

We will see some serious denial syndrom and damage control from people pushing opinion that Wii will become uber jRPG platform :)

I'm a huge Monster Hunter fan, got the Matte Bronze Limited Edition PSP.
Imported the game twice...

Sadly no Wii..., so i will wait for Monster Hunter 3 Portable before i play it.

I love playing Monster Hunter on the go :)

To be honest i could see the Wii version bombing, as most people who bought Portable 2nd G are handheld gamers like me and would love 3 to be ported to the PSP.

Edit: bombing as in only selling half the ammount of the PSP version @ release, and half the lifetime sales....

Which is still a lot tbh xD
