Forums - Nintendo - How much support will Wii Motion Plus Get?

We already know at least four games that are using it, three of which are third-party. I really wouldn't be surprised to hear about a new Zelda which makes use of it for epic sword fights, either.

Only further supporting my theory that the next Wii Zelda game will be a First Person/Third Person Adventure game a la Metroid Prime utilizing Wii Motion Controls for the Sword and Shield.

Also, I don't know if many Third Parties will jump on Motion Plus.  I think it will take a combination of Third Parties actually starting to work on the Wii (which many of them are still hesitating doing) and Third Parties feeling that home owners are actually buying the accessory.  I mean, a good chunk of people bought the Wii Zapper and/or other variations, but still only like 5 Zapper games have been made, 4 of them ports.  The biggest issue is about getting third parties to actually make games for the Wii.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

You can bet Lucasarts will make a lightsaber game. They've stated that it would have helped their last two games.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

You can't get games to require it, especially not as fast as we would want or hope. I do think a lot of developers will deliver it as an option, though, just because it basically fulfills the promise of Wii, that sense of total immersion that was so hoped for but was found lacking

A lot of companies will give it a try, smaller core titles which will test the waters and see the results. It also depends on Wii Sports Resort's adoption rates. That's why games will have to have the option for regular old waggle pretty much through the end of the generation. It's adoption might skew towards core gamers, though, which could lead to a good number of core gamers who utilize it.

Too many variables, but it will definitely see good support.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

A real Star Wars Light saber game, that's what I'm hoping for.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I think that somehting that would really help the adoption rate is if Nintendo would let other "worthy" games to bundle the Motion Plus as well - especially since it's something that most users will want more than one of.

But then either drive the prices up universally, or force the publishers to make differing SKUs, which would endlessly complicate things, which would in turn be adverse to Nintendo's strategy

It just wouldn't work

Every game starting 2010 that isn't Shovelware.

We know of a few:

The Conduit
EA Sports Tennis
Red Steel 2
Tiger Woods 10 (hinted at but not confirmed)

I expect Nintendo to make a big deal out of WM+ games coming out at E3

Others that you can expect: Mario Party 9, Rayman Rabbids 4, Warioware, other sport games, other party games.   I question how well Nintendo will support it itself though, because as of yet their barely supported their own balance board.

Let me fix that for you: underlined the ones you missed ;)

Wii Sports Resort

The Conduit

Red Steel 2

Grand Slam Tennis

Virtua Tennis 2009

Tiger Woods PGA Tour '10

As to whether I think many will support it - I think 80% of titles that are directed to core owners will require it by mid to late 2010. There will be an EXPLOSION of Wii MotionPlus games at E3 this year and I'm sure Nintendo will want to show case all of them so expect to see a lot of them at E3 and not many that don't use it.

It'll be pushed HARD by Nintendo with Wii Sports Resort easily reaching 10 Million in sales by years end 2009. The you'll have the stand alone peripheral that'll sell in large numbers and perhaps other games could come bundled with it.. Only Nintendo knows what's going on.

It'll be nothing like the balance board - This will be Wii Remote 2 and i'd be shocked if more than half of Nintendo games weren't using it at least as an option by the end of 2009

It will be really interesting to see when these games come out, what the differing gamplay is like without the attatchement. Essentially Motion + is a response to Waggle's short comings and the inability to utilize it properly in certain genres or for certain play mechanics. So if you make a game that utilizes the advantages of Wii Motion Plus, what's it going to play like for people that don't have that add on?

I really won't be surprised if we see more than one game bundled with the peripheral (I'm looking at you Red Steel 2)

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I still think Nintendo have to bundle at least 2 with Wii Sports Resort. Multiplayer is going to be what will make this game great (and hopefully online but I wouldn't hold my breath) and it would be kind of crappy if you can't play against some other member of your household because the game came with only one M+.
