This was to be expected. Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie will be released first (for obvious reasons).

I was afraid they could've cancelled Dragon Quest VI to be honest, as the release date for Dragon Quest IX was set for march.

I expect Dragon Quest VI to be released between March and June then.

Wada is only talking about Japan in that interview, says they haven't set the plans for the next financial year yet. He hopes FFXIII will be released in 2009, but admits DQIX delay WILL influence FFXIII plans.

Is there even the slightest chance that FFXIII and DQX can be released in the same financial year?

Of course, there's always a chance. But considering what SE representatives have said in the past, I wouldn't bet on it.

not likely unless SE has another DQ or FF main series planned for the following fiscal year. They don't want to make one year look way too good with two main games from DQ and FF then big drop off next year with no main games from DQ/FF. We are talking about at least 5 (possible 6-7) million units in Japan alone.

 



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Japan gets DQ9 this summer, we get this next year, in 2010.
Japanese release of FFXIII will be delayed until well into 2010, we'll get this at Xmas 2010.
2011 will be the year of DQ10 in Japan, we'll get this in 2012.

So what SE has been doing after FFXII got released in Q12006? Three years without main FFDQ releases. Understandable as long as this's PS3 project, but three years on DS game?

Versus XIII will be out way before DQ 10. DQ 10 doesn't even have a developer yet!

I wouldn't hold your breath for that. I can't see it releasing in Japan any earlier than Holiday 2011 and 2012 in America.
