Forums - Sony - Low KZ2 Pre-Orders means NO gamespot Midnight Launch! (confirmed)

just throwing this out there, the 4 gamestops i had worked / go to all very pro 360. always figured it was just the snobs working there. they have not advertised killzone 2 that well, they put a sign on the windows and thats it. and these are not the small stores these are the bigger ones, plenty of room for more advertisement.

other than that, doubt this affect sales. still close to 1 million sales first week.

I am saddened...

Btw, two questions:

1. Which games recently have had midnight launches?

2. How many pre-orders does a store have to get to do a midnight?

@ Underline: Its Sony's job to advertise the game, Gamestop can do as it sees fit.

The only ones I remember from last year are:

Fable II (this was actually the biggest one in my area)

Gears of War 2

Metal Gear Solid 4

Super Smash Bros Brawl

Grand Theft Auto IV

Low pre-orders? But...no!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Yea exactly how many pre-order is required to have a midnight launch? and is it in total or per store? Some GS stores are all out of demo-give aways, and they usually get like 20-30 of those demo code slips.

Also, doesnt pre-order mean that its not required to have a midnight launch because a pre-order will guarentee my copy to be there whenever i go to pick it up?

Oh yeah it must be that ... you will just come out with whatever crap fits the situation won't you ...

I think 90%+ of your posts are defending Sony ...

Killzone2 hype = a hoax?

After all the bigs hopes (LBP, Haze, MGS4, Resistance2, Socom, Killzone2) to turn the tide around...

What will be the PS3's next savior?

You forgot GT5P, God of War 3, GT5, Heavy Rain, InFamous,  etc.  When are people going to realize that the PS3 doesn't need a savior and is constantly delivering some top notch exclusives?

2 times GT5? anyway that list is getting old see my post  * GT5,FF13v,GOW

I guess we should pretend that the PS3 doesn't have any good upcoming exclusives, or didn't release great exclusives in 2008.  I think what is getting old is people pretending that every game makes or breaks the PS3.  I know you don't really believe that.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Hmm, how long does GS need to arrange that midnight launch? maybe they'll get more pre-orders once Sony starts advertising...

OT, that's quite bad.

And besides, people pre-ordered somewhere else. That bonus is dumb.

I wouldn't think it would take that long, all they really need is workers there to collect money and hand out games.  Maybe if pre-orders increase on the back of strong advertising there will still be one.

Tease.

Seriously who did not see this coming? We can track actual sales to the T with NPD. You can't fluff this stuff.

My local Gamestop has no advertisements related to Killzone 2, its not even on the "coming soon" board. But that's just my store. I could assume that my Gamestop store represents all stores across America. But I should never assume.
