I don't think their can ever be to much Mario. The only problem is that is all Nintendo has. The only big franchises without him in it are Metroid, and Pokemon (Wii Sprots, and play have him). This is why the Wii is the only Nintendo system I have never had at launch. I have already played all of the games on the Cube, and I prefer the old controller to the Wii mote for everything. The only one that would be kind of interesting to try would be Metriod, but after playing Red Steel I am a little sceptical about FPS with Wii. If Nintendo could widen out their Game offerings I would get a Wii without question, but it seems all of their new fanchises are not even games. I don't want to cook, clean, learn, or whatever other none gaming thing they can come up with. I want fun games with not a lot of thinking for some days, and deep rich involving experiances for another.

I've always thought that Mario is just naff. I don't really like the Nintendo characters and including Mario and friends in half of their games does put me off buying them. Although as much as I dislike him I'll have to admit that he isn't in too many games, fans of Mario just don't seem to get enough of him. Quite a few of my friends would be devastated if they couldn't play the many Mario games that come out every year. 

I think seeing Dry Bones, Shy guys, etc in Mario Strikers made me like the game even more. It adds consistency to the games and the world they are in. Imagin watching friends series with changing cast every year. That would not be good.

Mario is the greatest video game character ever by lightyears. There will only be too much of him when the quality of games drop off but Nintendo keep putting him everywhere. The games I have played with Mario in have all been very good (Mario platformers, Smash Bros, Mario Strikers, Mario Kart) so for now there's definitely not too much of him.

Sonic 'used' to be cooler until Sega lost their minds and tried to make him cool.

Let me design a Sonic game and it'll blow any Mario game away without a doubt... i know I can do it.
