Forums - Nintendo - Does Capcom want Wii owners to buy the HD console?

First off, I just wanted to say that this post does not include any facts, just my opinions.

Now that I'm done saying that, how come Capcom is porting games to the Wii but not giving them sequels?

For example:

Wii: Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition

PS3/360: Resident Evil 5

Wii: Dead Rising CTYD

PS3/360: Dead Rising 2

Okay, that's only two games, and we don't know if Capcom is going to port Dead Rising 2 to Wii, (but let's be realistic about that idea), but did you notice they are both zombies games, too?

It's kind of like Capcom is saying to Wii owners:

"Hey Wii owners, do you like zombie games? Great, then I'll give you some that were from the other systems that you couldn't enjoy, (or enjoy more in Resident Evil 4's case). Well Wii owners, aren't they fun? They are? Well I have good news for you, then! We're going to make sequels to them, but here's the catch, they are going to be on the HD console, so if you want to continue playing your favorite series/genres, you have to buy a HD console now!"

Again, this is just my opinions on two of Capcom's multiplatform game choices. And sorry if I sounding synical or trollish, even.

Anyways, discuss.

Oh, and I'm not trying to make Capcom look like a bad guy, here, I'm just curious and wanted to discuss this. And it should be noted that the port version of Dead Rising for Wii won't be exactly as the 360.

I choose to look at it from the positive side.

"Hmm... We're not really interested in making Zombie games for the Wii right now. (Insert reason)".

... "Well, considering that we could get some decent sales on it, let's port 2 games over there. That way there will at least be some good zombie games from us there".

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Yeah, it's kinda funny that Capsom supported Nintendo through its darkest days but now that they're back on top, all they've got to show for it is Zack and Wiki....

@Oyv

That could be a possibility, too, I guess, but I still find it interesting they will make sequels to them on the HD console.

The other interesting thing about putting Dead Rising 2 on the HD console is the fact Capcom is announcing this before Dead Rising even goes to the Wii, and that could also detract sales from the Wii version if someone is thinking about getting a HD console along with their Wii.

Wii: Monster Hunter 3

HD consoles: lol sorry, no hunting for you.

Eh...I think it's a good trade...

Hmm.... Maybe they are supporting the consoles by the genre they think would work for it, then.

For Capcom, it seems that they're fixated on the idea that Western development will save them (possibly it might, i don't know) so they're putting their efforts where the core gamer western audience largely is. Monster Hunter 3 is the exception because Monster Hunter heavily favors the Japanese, Tatsunoko vs Capcom is the other exception because there still is very little chance of the game ever getting out of Japan in the first place.

I dunno, i've been opposed to this whole idea of Japanese developers "trying" to appeal to Westerners. It worked for Metal Gear Solid 4, certainly, but MGS4 was the ideal game to Westernize. It seems like whenever they "try" they just end up mangling a classic.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Just a correction to your OP, the Wii is getting Dead Rising, but you should probably qualify it (ie: Dead Rising:CTYD) as it most certainly isn't the same game that's on the x360.

Yeah, Capcom is very random in terms of their Wii support. At a time they announce quality exclusive projects, a few months later they might disappoint us with a crappy port or no support (i.e. no Dead Rising 2).

On the whole it's still better than most though.

And.... it should be corrected now. Thanks!
