Forums - Gaming - CNET: Is Sega Planning to return to the console market?? {new trademarks}!!

Sega would get crushed now if they came back. They have no chance against Sony and Microsoft, let alone Nintendo.

i don't think Sega will get back into the console market, especially after getting out of it once already. Plus with the way the economy is going ( and prob won't get better anytime soon) I don't think it would be a smart move.

I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

You should congratulate me. I destroyed the vile red falcon and saved the universe. I consider myself a hero.

Anyone else notice how many times the article said that tit was meant for arcades and standalone units?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Sega owners dream on.

The easiest way for them to "come back" is to 'rent' the old Xbox 360 design, supe it up a bit and use it with their own proprietary interface and other software. They simply don't have the capital to break into the hardware market any other way, well that I can see anyway.

Xbox 360 design -> Just use some faster memory and more of it (GDDR5/6) and use some fast flash memory as a cache for game data/installs/DLC and they are good to go.

Any problems with this idea?

Tease.

Sega needs to see some serious success in the software market before it can even consider to have the resources for hardware devolopment.

@shakarak

mario n sonic is a success

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's possible that they could make another console. But did they save up enough money from just making games all these years, if so maybe that was there plan all along. Just make games until they had enough to make another console again. I probably would buy it if it had a really good Sonic game on it, maybe that's why they weren't making good Sonic games too.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

i sure hope not. 4 next gen consoles would be too much

Sega would need to partner with a large hardware company with a lot of money if they had any hope of making a new console. I doubt Sega alone could compete.

Maybe one of the big Japanese/Korean hardware companies? (Samsung/Panasonic) Or if the Intel/PS4 rumors are true, Nvidia might be left out of the next generation, so maybe them? An Apple/Sega console would immediately have a huge following as well.
