Info

Based on the universe created by best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf puts players in the role of Geralt, a professional monster slayer who exists on the fringes of a complex society troubled by the kind of problems more commonly found on the front pages of newspapers than in a fantasy universe. Taken as a child, mutated, and trained in the arcane ways of the witchers, Geralt is a reluctant hero, who nonetheless finds himself all too frequently in the heat of battles that are not his own. In this world there is no right or wrong, only decisions and consequences...

The Witcher is great but is this going to have more content than the original?

oops. shots are too big. can someone fix this?

@ guy above

YES.

Yahtzee didn't like The Witcher, but he also dislikes just about every game I've ever liked, so I'll give this a try if it gets good reviews (I doubt it'll get a demo, it's a WRPG)

This IS the console version, right?

Yes, it is the console version. And I can recommend The Witcher greatly (played the PC version), and say that I will most definetly get my hands on RotWW for my PS3!

8.5 from IGN for the original, very good score.

6.5 Presentation
If it wasn't for the inventory, big bugs and load time issues, the presentation would have been great.
8.5 Graphics
These are some very, very beautiful environments. Combat animations are terrific and the monster designs are good. Secondary character models aren't spectuacular and neither are the random animations.
8.5 Sound
The music is excellent, voice work is decent to good, and sound effects are great.
9.0 Gameplay
The combat and choices available make this a terrific RPG that's fun to play the entire way through.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
With 40 hours of play the first time through and three different story paths, this could be worth a second or third play through as long as you can handle the load times.
8.5
Great
OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Wow, the Presentation really let it down. Hopefully, they fix that stuff in Rise of The White Wolf.

I really liked Oblivion, is this game similar?

Fall 2009 release for ps360.
Looks like one of the few rpgs that i will like.
btw someone help me with the screenshots.

NOTE TO ALL :

THE WITCHER was mostly destroyed by the bug and the INSANE loading time

Since (march08 ?), the ENHANCED EDITION has been released for the PC and solved about all the problems that were present (stability improved and loading times reduced greatly)

at the end, some could say that :

The WITCHER ENHANCED EDITION >>>> Fable2/Fallout3/Oblivion

you are facing what could have been the game of the year 2007 ...

+
mature fantasy world from a real book
no bad or good side but only the path you choose to take
RPG element making you better at close combat / magic / elixir
nice gfx and art (at my eyes)

-
quite linear compared to (I guess) Oblivion
(even if it means you will lose less time on empty area and it is more story driven)

enjoy !

Time to Work !

@ Kantor
They fixed most issues in the original Witcher in the re-release titled 'enhanced edition". This looks like it will be AAA
