Forums - Gaming - Metacritic needs to do something about this...Halo Wars 0.8/10

This game must be crap, no wonder why Microsoft closed down Ensemble.

Metacritic is a site based around the principle of removing the entire contents of a review except for a number, and averaging these numbers out without thought for who the reviewers are. I think it highly appropriate that ludicrous scores are up on this site. If you don't like it, I suggest you do not use metacritic as a basis for decisions, and actually read a few reviews

LOL!

Good job comrades. Expect another call to arms by the time Alan Wake is close to release!

That won't be necessary, General. The forward scout teams have done their job.

Killzone 2 is at 6.3, which is surprisingly high. The thing is that people see 0.8 and think "BS", but they see 6.3 and think it's an honest score. Which it's not, because nobody, other than reviewers, has played the full game.

I only listen to users opinions. They are more honest, huh

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'm pretty sure most know which fanboys are mainly responsible for the score. I mean they've been going back and forth forever. Halo 3, Little Big Planet, Gears 2, etc..., I do not know why they even bother with user scores. I guess it gives the site more publicity and hits.  Weird thing is that fanboys are giving games they hate more press.  You know what they say...there is no such thing as bad publicity.  Besides that, I guess everyone needs a hobby...

Why do people care? It's not the actual reviews, if numbers are your thing wait for the the official numbers to come up next to it.

User review scores do not count and it says that on the site.

Not true.  For the official numbers they give some reviewrs more weight than others, and they don't count just any score from someone who claims to be a reveiwer.  They also list the sources for the scores, and you can then read the full reviews, which is handy when some give a game a 20 and some an 80.

Smells like a flop.
