Yeah I find the Wii to be kiddy. Almost like a Gimmick.

This "Gimmick" is on it's way to sell well over 100 million. I bet MS and Sony wish they were the "Gimmick."

agreed with what SCEA said

@narfwack

well didnt Sony hit 100 million twice ??????

the first company to sell 100 million consoles, and to make it better they did it on their "first" console

i guess that only leaves me with 1 question....did any other company make it to the 100 million console sold "goal" as yet ?

Look up your facts, bro. The Gameboy reached the 100 million mark prior to the PS1. And that was Nintendo first mainstream handheld.

OT:

Everyone in this thread who says that the Wii is ONLY for women/young children/adults/elders/etc and not your hXc age-group(14-21) needs to go back to their ManBox360 and ManStation3. You guys are way to cool for us kids. D:

The Wii has been my favorite Nintendo console ever because I can play almost any past Nintendo game(VC), best third-party support, and I have full BC to the GCN library, which is something to say against Sony&Microsft with their lack of BC and limited BC. 8D

I have three PS3 games (Resistance, Resistance 2, and F.E.A.R.) and three 360 games (Bioshock, Guitar Hero 2, and Assassin's Creed). The only PS3 game that I'll be getting pretty soon are LBP and MGS4(I'm not done MG, MG2, and MGS: PO). But the XBL has pretty much ruined my online experience. I'm tired of 10 year old boys cursing their face off every damn second.

But don't fret guys! I'm sure Microsoft and Sony will support you, oh wait, I forgot, they don't give a shit about you :>

Yes I do.

The comment that Mario and friends do t appeal to adults is just flat wrong. We grew up with Mario back in the 80's and early 90's. I would say, like Sonic he really can cater to all demographics. As a Sega guy I will never forget how much shit I gave him, while secretly enjoying every game. Thank god Sega seems to realize us old timers are playing on Wii. You know the console for the 30+ crowd of "insignificant" gamers.

XBL: WiiVault Wii: PM me  PSN: WiiVault

PC: AMD Athlon II Quadcore 635 (OC to 4.0ghz) , ATI Radeon 5770 1GB (x2)

MacBook Pro C2D 2.8ghz, 9600m GT 512 iMac: C2D 2.0, X2600XT 256

I sadly own a wii and can say without any hestiation I believe it is the kiddy and grandpa system, I truly get no joy from it.

That being said I'm glad others do and enjoy the system.

The wii is the main console,

1. For girls & women
2. Older people
3. For parents that buy it for their little kids, and play it also
4. Mainly children

 This.

That.

Hmm...so the Wii is kiddy and it appeals to all gamers?  How exactly does that work?

Conversely, the demographics of other two consoles is centered on a narrow age group that for the most part falls under 'kiddy'. Can one of you explain this contradiction to me?

There is nothing wrong fo rthe wii to be considered as a kiddy console. Is very successful for what it is.

Also there is nothing wrong for people to admit that is popular among girls or elders.

hell i even bought 2 of them.

Yes... yes i do!

You must wonder what the japanese think of two consoles that pretty much make most games just for one market and the fact the japanese are not interested in it at all.

Maybe thats why the japanese arn't interested in this new console gen.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
