Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 aim/look speed: Realism? Or bad attempt at it?

@ shadowblind: You've said you wanted a gaming experience and not reality breathing down your neck. I think that kind of correlates with your frustration about the aiming. No way in hell that in reality (something this game attempts to mimick) you would be in precision aiming all the time (especially with the guns you get in the demo) and that you would go for head shots all the time. You go for hits, no matter where you can get it.

I know this may contrast with your "it's a game and it has to feel like that for me", but I think a game should be checked upon the things it's trying to achieve (aside from the fun factor which is mainly personal).

It may not feel like a game to you because of the burdens it places on the gamer, but it succeeds (imho) to make war a difficult thing, not some "zoom in headshot"-fest (unless you are the sniper in Saving Private Ryan :p)

@ controls: well, the discussion is pretty much endless I'm afraid. I think some people just don't want to let go of their known controls and bitch about it then. Others love them because they have no problem using them, and others prefer full customization, and are angered that that isn't possible. I'm in category two (and getting better :p), so I just think people should keep trying. It's like many things in life: if at first you don't succeed, try again. Even *I* manage frequent headshots now and without dying, so if I can do that, I'm quite sure more honed FPS players should have no problem with it either :)

I'll agree with the topic starter on this. The aiming controls seriously hinder the gameplay. Its not about realism or "Gaming" as someone put it, its about enjoyment. We pay $60 to enjoy what we're playing. As always, some will and some wont but, at least in my opinioin, there should be more options in the game to let those who dont enjoy the default way to enjoy it with a few small tweaks. Socom 3/CA (not sure about Confrontation) allowed you to adjust the look speed via controls options. This really isnt such a bad idea. For those enjoy that "realism" they put in the game, fine. Let them use that. For those of us who feel burdened by the slow look speed, which reduces our enjoyment, let us have the option to change that to our liking. Its not like its taking away from anyone else's experience.

Did this thread need to be resurrected? It's pointless.

And I hope you're happy now, they "patched the controls".

Lol, apparently they didn't do anything, THANK GOD.

If you don't like the controls, you have two choices:

1) Get used to them

2) Don't buy the game. But don't go around posting that Killzone 2 sucks, because it doesn't, and that's just your opinion.

My opinion is better, because more people share it, and I have metacritic, the 360 fanboys' favourite weapon, behind me

i hate it but i only played a few hours. ill probably get used to get like the people who played 50 hours already

well im probally 1 of those who dont know how to describe but if i try to i'll say..its feels slow...and im not talking about the recoil..that i pretty much understand...but how many of yous have had a hard time putting a red dot on an enemy?..it does feel sluggish and i agree with 1 of the comments they should at least come out with a patch that allows u to tweak the response alot better than they have now in the game...other than the aiming issue it is a very good game..but in a first person shooter game u at least want it to have a better aiming reaction which is essential when playing online...

@pap
In real life apparently Marines are trained to double tap for the torso. Two bullets going into and through body at very close intervals and at slightly different angles since your 2nd shot wouldn't be exactly the same as your first causes the a human body to get fucked up and torn apart. Now if a game could simulate that effect I'd be amazed.
