Forums - Sales - First day sales in Japan (2/5) - Demon's Souls (PS3), Another Code:R (Wii)

But it doesn't make sense to have stuff being made and then wait until the Wii starts doing better in weekly sales to actually announce them. It makes no difference to those you are trying to sell the game, and it's not like they're just going to abandon it if the Wii never gets above the PS3 again.

They will just announce them when they planned to and when they have enough ready, I don't think it has anything to do with weekly sales.

I think that most of those company's started the development for there title's when they realised that the PS3 could actually sell a considerable amount of software, despite lacking the user-base of the PS2.

MGS4, WKC, DMC4 you call it... and even small things like Demon's Soul have been selling well, allthough we will see the real results in 2010.

And although it's far away, once DQ X are released we'll probably see a ton of announcements of RPGs to capitalize on that fanbase. Probably before too.

Yeah 2011.

Well, here's what I mean...once games start getting HW up, there'll be a bigger fanbase and games announced might get in the middle of the entire rush and get more attention instead of it being stale and an RPG gets announced and not many care since the whole rush is for other consoles.

Maybe I'm not making sense to you?

Of course they're not gonna abandon the PS3 or whatever. That's not what I'm saying :3

I mean...don't you find it at least a LITTLE odd that these games just got announced when the PS3 started doing well?

I find it much more likely to be random happenstance linked to the fact that it was closing in on E3 and Golden Week in Japan then for the developers to have games waiting in the wings for a console's weekly sales to do better.

...

Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII where actually announced in 2006 with actually "some" images, and Final Fantasy XII was announced in 2002 and we dind't get to play it till the end of 2006.

And in all those cases we knew which team was making it.

It's also funny that people have been predicting for months that those low-budget JRPGs would end on the Wii, while most of them have been announced(exclusively) for the PS3.

And most of the the big ones are for the PS3. (but to be more accurate, most big pushing Japanese games are on PS3, not necessarily RPGs)

I've noticed these RPGs have started to be announced once the PS3 went over the Wii this year...I'm expecting more PS3 announcments when the PS3 gets similar boosts from GT5, T6, Tales, whatever. And although it's far away, once FFXIII + FFXIIIv are released we'll probably see a ton of announcements of RPGs to capitalize on that fanbase. Probably before too.

Fixed.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Don't worry Soriku, the Wii will roar back with a vengeance not seen since the DS came back just last year against the psp.

There have barely been any announcements this year for the Wii, something is clearly not right. That's what's hurting the Wii in Japan, the overall lack of games be it first or third party. The droughts are inmense and there's not a constant flow of games in between, it's mainly cheap shovelware, PS2 ports, mini game collections, sports games, western games and the random big game that comes every 3 months.

I doubt people can get too excited over that.

Roar.

But we're talking about recent announcements :P Of course the PS3 will get more big boosts too obviously. That's a given.

Crazzyman, you don't make enough posts these days ;_;

lol, this is awesome. Crazzy did make a pretty good point. The same can be easily argued for the PS3.

Obviously, yes. But until DQ IX is released, most RPG fans will own a PS3 because of FF XIII.
