Forums - General - I hate the complicated tax code.

So i get my W2's today....

and I work for an agency that sends you out to different jobs.

Last year... I worked in City A for 1 day.

Then i worked at City B for 2 weeks

Now I work in City C.

I found out they for some reason were witholding money to pay taxes to City A and City B on my paycheck for City C.  Despite the fact I neither lived nor work in those cities anymore... and now I need to figure out how to get my money back from those cities. (If I can.)

Because I paid like... over 2000% what i should of paid either city.

Well i guess none of that is due to complicated tax codes.  It's just due to idocy.

that sucks. I hate the tax code, just cause I have to pay taxes... At least it only takes me 1-2 hours to get everything sorted out since I don't really have that much to do other than plug in my W-2 numbers, and whatever form my bank interest is for.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Yeah, the tax code certainly could be improved. Obama said he would try to do something about it.

At least you don't have to be an accountant or a tax lawyer. Just think, they have to deal with that stuff on a daily basis.

I guess.  I dunno.  Just sitting down with the a tax guy is like $150.

They make some mad cash.

It's not really the code that bothers me but the complete stonewall of information that the proffession creates i guess.

My company screwed me.  Because they decided to auto-withold taxes....

And now I don't know what i even do to get my money back?

Do I file W2's in the two cities that my company paid my money to?

I guess that would be the case but i'm not sure.  So I gotta call these people up, but the funny part is that I work when their tax departments are open meaning i've got to bring my tax stuff to work and call on my break. 

Pain in the ass.

I usually trust my tax accountant with my taxes cause I know nothing about em.
Hopefully he is good with it.
