Ahhh another lazy developer talkin Sh*t...Man up and start working harder and you'll achieve better results...people always want the easy way out...and Left 4 Dead is alright...fun to play with friends but it's nowhere in the same league as a Halo 3 or another great valve title Half Life 2!

@NJ5, I respect the games his made, and to be honest I think he looked at the ps3 architecture and thought "screw it"!

At the time when his comment was made, I don't think he realized that ps3 was going to live on. As we know, people dug a grave for it and waited for it to die for 2 years from it's release and to some extent even now.

Now gabe can't go back on his words, not only is a system twice the price of it's competition selling, but it has also put a stop to the critics who claimed the 2005 cgi video was impoosible to achieve this gen or come close to it. I've been playing the demo and to be quiet honest, gg have done an amazing job. To some it lives upto the trailer, for some it comes very close and for some, it surpasses it.

Its a shame it's ps3 only or 360 gamers could see what it's all about. I'm glad gg managed to achieve it, hopefully it will motivate ms and their studios to make something upto par if not better it, but whoever and if they make it, I don't think it will be gabe since it means he will be taking up Sony's challange. I don't think gabe will want to give in to that. What do you think?

You guys just don't understand anything. Valve is small company of about 160 employees. Newell most likely knows all his employees personally. This is probably smaller than the Killzone 2 team. In 2007, they had a revenue of $70 million. That's about 438 000 $ per employee. However, Valve is a private corporation owned by Newell. That guy is probably one of the richest guy in the video game industry. Valve is one of the few corporations in the industry that only produce commercial hits like Blizzard and Nintendo.

I could say a lot about Valve because I studied Steam as part of innovation class at school but I think if you make some research, you could figure out what is valve business model by yourself.

In the interview that I saw the highly publicized quotes are in response to a very general, broad line of questioning about the current state of the industry.

The "mistake" quote was his view on how anti-developer centric the design choices of the hardware architecture were and how he feels developers are treated as an afterthought.

Now we get a bunch of fanboy vilification on the Internet that he's "lazy".

if you were talking about yu Suzuki, shigero miyamoto, the dude who created fable, the creator of gow and the guy who created WoW ( apparently it's become a religion now), then I would agree with you Jman, but all gabe has done is make a couple of great fps's. Bungie single handedly saved the xbox and helped the 360 to sell, fable is unique, nothing on the ps3 comes close and l4d as good as it maybe is just about the multiplayer. Geow, uncharted, r2 and kz2 blow l4d away.

I suppose my point is that mr newell is overrated. He sticks to one genes unlike real video game legends, he doesn't innovate but plays it safe. This is why he will never be a yu Suzuki or miyamoto or kojima.

Its been said many times that Killzone 2 has better graphics then Gears of War 2. Its also been said much fewer times that Gears of war 2 and Killzone 2 are equal in graphics. RESEARCH!!!!!

The J man is not responding to the article , its to those ps3 fanboys who actually think that valve is a thing of the past and the ps3 doesnt need them when they have KZ2 which is inferior to half-life 2 (as is every other shooter) a game they made years ago.

u can't compare graphics from a 3rd person to a fps, but even if you did, facts will tell you after playing the demo, the graphics are just a technical masterpiece.

Ive read plenty of reviews and one preview from a 360 site. 99% of them state very clearly that nothing on a console has graphics like kz2 and this includes the xbox site. The xbox preview was on n4g if you wish to check it out.
