Crash AND Spyro were awesome.

That was mainly the reason why I never bought a PS2

They sold the crash Bandicoot and and spyro series? I know the developers went on to do, what I think are better things, but sony would have their own headlining characters if they kept these games, and kept refining the gameplay. Instead, sierra and now ActiBlizz is whoring out the series with cheap, crappy games.

 And YOU! Where The Hell Do you get YOUR Info??? Sony Never owned those two IPs, Universal owned those IPs from the very beginning so Sony never "Sold" the series to begin with. they just published the games. and to that and to that Taco Dude, Sony OWNS Naughty Dog. and they DO own  the Ratchet & Uncharted IPs.

They really should have purchased the rights to Crash when they decided to make him their unofficial mascot.

Those Mario taunting commercials when the PS1 came out were just classic. "Hey plumber boy!"

Yes they did. I was a big fan of both series and I would've already bought a PS3 if Sony had brought them to the PS3!

Found it just for this discussion. It was a pretty good update of the smack talking Genesis does commercials.

 

  It really is kinda easy to forget just how much of a leap the PS was above the Super Nintendo and Genesis.  I would say the move from 16 bit cartridge consoles to 32 bit 3D CD based consoles was the biggest shift to this day.

 

   This commercial is especially great because Sony had actually offered the PS system to Nintendo and Nintendo had declined.  They could have been the winner of the last 2 generations hands down if they hadn't been stuck with the cartridge mindset.  They actually put an article in Nintendo power back in 95 comparing cartridges and CDs as a rocket and a snail over load times, propaganda at its best.
